Very appropriate for post #3000.
Condolences and congratulations Todd.
This car is way to fast for Dave.
Thanks buddy.
Appreciate the kind words. I'll miss her for sure.
It sounds like she's going out on the right foot. Always a dominator on the street and track. I'll never forget pulling up to a stop light next to a Dodge Challenger and he was show boating before he got to the light. The Wife looks over/looks back to her Husband and then must of nearly suffered whiplash looking back over. I gave it a rev, left them in the dust when the light turned green and they took the first turn. He probably needed some Viagra that night.
Matt, I appreciate you and the guys at BOS taking her down there and winning an award is awesome.

Don't mention it. I'm sure Dick was equally happy that you didn't mind having your car down there. It was a tough job, and a bit of a burden having to drive that car own there and back, but someone had to do it. :D I totally wished she was mine when the new ZL1 pulled up at the stop beside me, it would have been nice to do a little more than show off the ZL1's bark. However, just the idle made the new car's owner afraid to get on it until he turned to get on the freeway. Whoever winds up with this car is getting a great deal. Drives and rides amazingly well on the street!
Matt
I had a feeling. :unibrow: Glad you got to take it for a spin before it goes to it's new home.

Back on Ebay, here's your second chance at the car. I have retained the right to sell it outside of Ebay.

The car is officially ready for inspection and delivery. Best of Show has her looking great. The nose debris blemishes have been fixed and they put a complete massage on the paint job. I'm talking about over 4 full days of labor. They also have the AC blowing ice cold and the seat belt cross bar painted to match.
This is one of the finest 69 Camaro's on the planet today. Here's your chance to pick up the car at .50-.60 cents on the dollar vs. build cost. Additionally, it's sorted out beyond 99 out of 100 cars in this genre.
The car will be in Southern, CA until September 9th. I've already been offered a prime Saturday afternoon spot with Mecum. Make me a reasonable offer and let's save you some money and me some time.
Dick and the boys at BOS will have it at the Encinitas car show this weekend.

I agree, the car is a steal. I was just telling an interested buyer this morning that I have North of 130k in this car and I have 2000 hours of labor in it MYSELF. The engine is over 25k and I have over 40k just in the shell. He was concerned with depreciation in the future. My response, "You can build it for $175,000)" and that's no exageration. The car has been depreciated by my back pocket. It's fresh and clean and worth the asking price. If it doesn't go down the road soon at this price, it's going to auction. End of story.

hey todd i was just looking over your auction, the bottom of your description, it says asking 110,000, and then has the auction at 99,900, may want to fix that make sure no buyer has any confusion.

Meet the new owner. It looks like Payback will spend the rest of her life in Texas. I couldn't be happier with the new owner and the situation. He has a 25 year old son and they have a huge passion for cars. They do plan to use it and occassionally run an autcross. I took him for a ride and showed him about 70% of it's capability. He's got respect for the car now  and I'm hoping he gives her hell every chance he gets. He's already talking tail pipes and fuel injection.
It's been a fun ride. It's time for some new interests, goals, and another build down the road. The friends and experiences are by far the best side effect of all the time and effort. I hope the new owner finds the same positive results.

At the end of the day, the car and I just grew apart. My desire to utilize the car on the street was gone and my ideals off road became to risky. The car is simply to nice to go in the direction I was heading. With all the tuning and experience under my belt, I was starting to have enough speed to get into some serious trouble. It made the most sense for me to part ways and find a buyer that wants to use the car for what it was originally intended, a street warrior and autocross. Once I got a taste for the track, my mindset changed. Driving on the street just didn't yank my chain anymore. I now knew the real capabilities of the car.
I lost my ass but that's water under the bridge. I'll never build one from scratch again. Once it's that nice, the snowball gains to much momentum. My next car will be a much lower budget brawler that I can roll and burn to the ground in hopes of walking away and not suffering such a huge financial hit.
I'm going to spend some time really thinking about how to formulate a build plan that makes sense for my budget, ideals, and goals.

Congrats on the sale and moving forward. Wise choice as the longer you would have waited the greater the risk would have become.
Definately looking forward to what you build that will fullfill your new needs...............SPEED on the bigger tracks! It's like crack :D

Sounds like the Camaro Mustang challenge could be a good cheap thrill for you and fit that bill. I know they are limited to low hp but that IS what keeps the cost down. It is cheap real racing. Cheap being a relative term.

Sad to see her go. I was actually hoping you would fail miserably with your attempts to sell her, but it figures you'd be successful at that too. The new owner scored one helluva ride. Always look forward to your next steps.
