Have to be honest, I don't see where you have time to finish off your car. Between work, family, and your lateral-g addiction, I mean hobby. Find somebody to polish that thing off and get on to your next build already....

Ron,
The nice thing is when you do finish it, your leftover 'quality new parts' will then be 'quality vintage parts'. And you can sell those for waaaayyy more!
The biggest vintage cache though will be all them 'vintage' wheel's...
So ya got yerself a win-win siduashun here.

Non-profit of course, benefiting all the elderly and deprived minority muscle addicts.

Todd has a great point Ron!!! I found myself in the same situation NO TIME!! I really thought I could get my car done on my own at first. 100+ hours a week don't leave a lot of time to work on the car. The best decision I ever made was to leave the car at Troy's for him to finish the fab work. Now I'm going to have him start the first round of body work to even help me get a little further along. I will be painting the car myself though that's for sure...

Looking good Ron! I'd say I could lend a hand to finish but I'm in the same boat as you, all work and no play at the moment. No worries, it WILL get done...

Run, quick question. I noticed the way the roll cage is built in the back with a bar going diagonally across . Are you going to have a back seat? I know you are going to track the car alot, just asking since it getting close to interior time.

I agree Mario. There just will be no time in the next 60 days and beyond to try and get the car moving forward as quickly as I'd like. I've got a few things I can knock out though and will see how far I get. Appreciate the advice for sure.

No back seat Marcus. The diagonal bar is removable for storage and whatnot. It'll be interesting to see how many times I actually take it out...

Wise Guys, all a ya. So that was over a month ago, huh? I've been travelling for work three of those last five weeks and I'm off again tomorrow, although this one's a road trip and no airports. Mario was right, BTW.
I did get out there that Saturday. Probably a good six hour day. The only thing I can remember accomplishing is finishing up the accessory drive. One of those learning, wrenching, running around days. The accessory drive was mocked up, but not finished. What I learned...the main balancer on an LS7 requires a torque to yield bolt and the factory requires a special removal and install tool. I also leaerned the local dealer lead corvette tech is a cool dude (read: tool loaner).
Here's the finished pic:

Soooo…
Spring arrived early this year (this gets better) and one morning about a month ago it was just too nice to stay inside. Mid-80s and not a cloud in the sky, so I decide to pack up the truck and take a ride south. My 12 year old daughter asked where I was going and I said casually, ‘oh, nowhere sweetheart.” She wasn’t buying it, so she grabbed her shoes and hopped in the truck.
We decided it was just so nice out that we’d take the beach route for a bit. After about an hour it was time to stop for gas. I pulled up to the pump, parked and went inside to grab a few supplies.
http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/ac52/flash911/Build%20Thread/IMG_0349_zps7f6fee0b.jpg (http://s885.photobucket.com/user/flash911/media/Build%20Thread/IMG_0349_zps7f6fee0b.jpg.html)
Just as I got to the door a particularly seedy individual was coming out. He was from another part of town (I could just tell) and about my height and ½ my weight. He was wearing baggy pants and shirt and we bumped into each other at the door. Behind him was another guy, same side other tracks I was sure, but he was about 6’5” and about two fiddy. Dude #1 bumps into dude #2 and dude #1 gives me a scowl while and his buddy behind him was gettin' ready. Also, upon contact I felt a sold steel protrusion in his belt line. Gotta think fast here…
“You packing,” I said? No response. “I just bought a Sig 226 .40.” Dude smiles (whew). “Really,” he said and pulls out the same gun. Brutus behind him relaxes a bit. I’m like, maybe I’ll wake up tomorrow at home. “I don’t carry in public though.” He says “yeah we’re on our way to the range.”
From there we talked about concealed carry, gun control today and the Dems, P226 recoil, cars, you name it. Turns out Brutus is a PhD and we spent the next 30 minutes debating the merits of value vs. dividend investing, the future of the real estate market, cars and so on. Man that dude has some interesting theories on quantitative easing and today’s geo-political environment, but I digress.
When we were about done me and the dudes do a fist bump and my daughter and I moved on down the road.
Anyways, after about another hour on the road we ended up at Best of Show. Good a place as any to stop I figure. Dick greets me with that same old smile and says, “Ron when you gonna get that pile on the road?” I dunno Dick, whaddaya think?” He says, “well if it was up to me, we’d have it rolling in no time so you can finally enjoy this thing.” Sounds good to me, so we unloaded the car, did a quick inventory of parts and I was on my way.
True story.

I finally got a chance to stop by today and see what's up. Dick has a plan and he's knocking out the wiring first.
Engine bay is about 90% done:
http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/ac52/flash911/Build%20Thread/IMG_0371_zps53567425.jpg (http://s885.photobucket.com/user/flash911/media/Build%20Thread/IMG_0371_zps53567425.jpg.html)
Front is just about all powered up:
http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/ac52/flash911/Build%20Thread/IMG_0372_zps7c393ae3.jpg (http://s885.photobucket.com/user/flash911/media/Build%20Thread/IMG_0372_zps7c393ae3.jpg.html)
...and the underdash is a typical maze, but still has a bit to go:
http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/ac52/flash911/Build%20Thread/IMG_0375_zpsd546af50.jpg (http://s885.photobucket.com/user/flash911/media/Build%20Thread/IMG_0375_zpsd546af50.jpg.html)
Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic.
Dick likes to work front to center, rear to center and then do final connections. Next will be final engine fluids plumbing and then the big day comes; thats still a ways off but we're getting closer. We talked through a bunch of other stuff and he knows exactly what I want. Safe to say we're in tune. That reminds me of another story...

You know I'm just ribbin' ya Ron. Lots of thought and quality work has gone into that car and she'll be sweet looking when she's done. I can already picture you cruising the windy coastal roads in the summer with the tunes and AC blazing. Hold that thought as you move forward and the wait wont seem so bad.

You kidding me? My phone's camera lens is so scratched up it takes worse pictures than Rob's. My DSLR's charger (I think) lives in D.C. and I have some other excuse for why the other little camera I have doesn't work. I think it memory card never made it home and I never have needed it since. It's also possible the Chinese half of the family just wore the camera out. You know how many pictures asians take, and if not you got really lucky.
I had to pick up stuff for a couple shop projects today, but last I remember the car was really close to running. Once the variable pump controller and the stainless line to the clutch reservior goes on it should be ready to fire and be able to drive in and out of the shop. Oh and one of the headers is being modified, but then it should be ready.

Greg, that story is nothing. I don't know if you've ever seen Arrested Development, but I'm pretty sure at least one of the writers must have worked for my family's business at somepoint. There's no banana stand, and most of the characters have been toned down so the general public can more easily relate with them, but the idea behind the family owned construction company is the same. And don't ask me what character I would be...

Ok so in a blatant attempt to not have my thread turn into a BMF or 69Forino blob today, here's the update. :topic:
Matt mentioned the oiling system is just about buttoned up. The headers are modified to clear the steering shaft and installed. Upper radiator hose is on, lower is still missing, I think. Master reservoirs are (should be) plumbed and the crew made an access panel to run and mount my rear shock reservoirs in the trunk. They'll either go on the crossmember or if we have enough line length, mounted on the rollbar. Also wiring for the trunk starter relay is in process.
Proof that Matt was not lying about his equipment:

We're good Ron. The number of pictures might be a bit excessive though. You usually post up one picture and get three pages of... well, nothing from the rontourage. I can only imagine what chaos and derailment will ensue now with all of those pictures, some of which actually have some sharpness and clarity.

This general outcry and the backlash that these photos have created is terrible. Way to out me as the photographer Ron. I see how it is. Now you know how journalists feel when it comes to protecting their source(s).

Tuning should be easy. Every conceivable part you could probably ever need is already in your garage, and if not it is in mine. I have about about 10 sets of springs floating around and sway bars and other associated crap... and tires you could "rent" for a reasonable price.

glad to see it moving in the right direction.
Curious, what did you do to the headers?
Hi Frankie! I bought the Kooks headers unwelded. When we attached the tubes to the flange everything lined up great except the #1 and #3 cylinder tubes would not clear the steering shaft. There's three different ways to approach this - maybe more - but this is the route we took. I was a bit concerned about the effect on HP and how it would package, but it came out really nice. I was told even though I have equal length headers, the extra inch or so added to #1 (even less for #3) would not have a noticeable effect. Look forward to catching up Bro!
