I didn't care for the first intake tube and actually it was the second as I sent the first one back.

Using a tighter bend radius it looks like I can get a 6" filter on the end. We shall see when we install the Anvil Carbon-Fiberglass inner fenders.

Since I had a very nice set of pedals made for the first version of the car I would like to use them.

The Guys at Screaming Chicken . com make a very nice adapter.

My goal for tonight is to mock up the MAT sensor.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201163508-21c6f570-me.jpg

Best Tool Ever !!!

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201163512-6cd5b982-me.jpg

Yep, The first hole was just a little bit off so I new hole was made.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201163514-8a397ef6-me.jpg

I made the hole just big enough so I can temporarily thread the fitting in. So we can possible start the car this weekend ( 01-11-23 )

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201163517-c34bf5b3-me.jpg

It's not permanent but it will do for start up.

Well it wasn't me that leaked all over the floor.

Next time I will make sure the petcock is closed on the bottom of the radiator and yes we were laughing at me.

It's nice having moral support from your friends when you need it.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201163807-45432d62-me.jpg

Heater core hose bypass is also leaking and it was the clamps.

Safety wired the intake tube to the Radiator.

We have power and Andrew AKA Dr EFI and I are on the phone.

It's a very simple website but here it is and trust me he is good. https://drefi.net/

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201175341-c5047a0b-me.jpg

We have Lights ..... however we have issue's

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201163838-cd91b56d-me.jpg

I am so happy I made this thing serviceable.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201163844-1b62cf82-me.jpg

Not Good - All the lights are White and we are unable to connect to the handheld.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201164509-7bb2762e-me.jpg

Calling it and we are going to try to figure out what the issue is.

Hopefully it is something I screwed up and a simple fix so we reschedule for next weekend.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201163734-6ec8d123-me.jpg

Andrew AKA Dr EFI gave me a couple suggestions of what to look for and I will work on that later today or tomorrow.

Well, sometimes you just need to move on and take some parts off. So off came the lower valance so I can eventually install the Anvil Carbon inner fenders.

Pictures for reference

Since I couldn't remember what the blue white wire does I pulled out some of my notes. Yep, it's the tach output signal wire.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201164911-5806aeb2-me.jpg

I am also relocating the Holley Ground Wire down to the shut off terminal.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201164920-46f77c63-me.jpg

Certain ''Hot'' wires on going to be on the top post DSE Battery terminals.

However, I am not a big fan of them as they just don't seem to grip the battery post.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201164917-eb30f9af-me.jpg

I am also considering adding a positive post on the core support just like the negative post.

Since it is only a 30 minute job to remove the Vintage Air unit I am taking it out so I can access all of the wire if we have an issue when we try to start it again on the 21st.

The Blue White Wire - Yep I am going to move it just in case I want to install an old school tach.

Fingers crossed that I will be starting the car this weekend.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201165439-109f1f1d-me.jpg

One more task added to the list. I am going to drill a hole in this bracket to run the wire directly through the center of this bracket and tuck it under the carpet.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201165448-212cc990-me.jpg

I realized when the Vintage Air unit is in the car I was unable to tell what each one of the fuses were for.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201165454-344f6933-me.jpg

So apparently it is very important to not stack the 11.0 Loose Wire Ground so I am going to move it 2'" away from the ground stud.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201165456-958e0ca3-me.jpg

I moved the blue white wire to where the Holley Digital dash will be.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201165451-cbfe2ab6-me.jpg

Apparently Remy decided it was nap time.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201165458-b6723be0-me.jpg

Remember those DSE Top Post terminals apparently the positive one broke overnight.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201165504-e78fd592-me.jpg

Going to plan "B" or is it "C" or is it "D"

These have a little more beef however I am not sure if I like them cosmetically.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201165506-e29b2691-me.jpg

So, well the issue seems to be resolved by moving the Loose wire ground and actually hooking up the Holley Main Ground. DA !!!!!!!!

Yes, I actually forgot to install the main ground wire for the unit and yep I am an idiot.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201165508-c2ceaa07-me.jpg

Test Ignition on and what do you know it actually works.

Junking the DSE Terminals and trying these.

Moving on to the Loose Wire Ground and have I told you how much I love this drill.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201165520-807594e7-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201165525-62728b4e-me.jpg

I stripped all of the paint and coated with Dielectric grease.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201165522-e2c7267b-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201165528-59098552-me.jpg

This is what happed to the hose clamp on the water pump heater core lines. Apparently I opened it up to much and the inside slider
sleeve was pinched. So I am just going back to the old style stainless steel line clamps. On a side note these are almost impossible
to see when they are in the car.

Remy's up and want's to go to bed as do I. Plus I have to get up early to have a Mohs procedure done on my left
calf. Apparently the biopsy wasn't in my favor and they need to remove more tissue to make sure they removed
all of the skin cancer cells.

Unfortunately we didn't attempt to start the car on Saturday as my leg was pretty sore and the Doctor told me I need to stay off my feet for 3 days. Holy **** is it hard to sit on the coach for two day and stay off the bike for 2 or 3 weeks.

So I jumped on the Screaming Chicken website and ordered all the parts I wanted. Let's just call this a late Christmas present.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201170424-37871619-me.jpg

The old levers are coming off and I think they are going to Ron.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201170424-37871619-me.jpg

I also bought a longer charge wire for the Optima charger.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/01/20230201170418-32c67284-me.jpg

I rescheduled the start date to the 28th with Andrew. Let's hope I get everything sorted out by Saturday morning.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/01/31/20230131152030-9a388356-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/01/31/20230131152036-379a5d9c-me.jpg

Last minute change up. I really didn't like the top post terminals so I quickly next day air with Amazon a set of Marine top post
terminals. These actually grip the battery post like they should.

I completely disconnected the Holley ECU.

I also cleaned out the car to make sure there was nothing in the car that wasn't needed. Low and behold I found the pedal bracket
that I ordered over a year ago. It's funny because I told Dave a Screaming Chicken the best way to find lost parts is to order a new
one. Unfortunately I was correct as I found it before I opened the box.

Well, things are finally feeling real as I am pouring gas into the car for the first time in almost three years.

https://www.lateral-g.net/forums/cache.php?img=http%3A%2F%2Fgaragescene.net%2F_data %2Fi%2Fupload%2F2023%2F02%2F01%2F20230201175341-c5047a0b-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/01/31/20230131152215-01ed15cb-me.jpg

I also went over my start up check list and oddly enough I missed a few more things.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/02/20230202115012-a6f8c607-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/02/20230202115014-919f746c-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/02/20230202115011-de2634a8-me.jpg

Somehow, I missed a few things and of course one of the most important things.

Yep, I missed the PFT tape on the NPT fitting going into the tank and thankfully Dan was over and he noticed all of the fuel on the ground.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/01/31/20230131170047-e8609484-me.jpg

Problem solved.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/01/31/20230131170049-8d585a7f-me.jpg

Andrew continued running test before we fired up the car and he notice that I wired the Fan relay incorrectly.
Instead of rewiring it while we were on the phone I just snipped the trigger wire and I will just manually connect it to the battery.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/01/31/20230131170051-4f25fd77-me.jpg

Here we go first start attempt in 3 years. Well it fired right up and boy did it sound terrible.

UOdJt_eVrGk

Then we started again so Andrew could remotely diagnosis the problem. He discovered the entire left "Odd" bank was not firing correctly.
We shut it down and started looking at the coil harness as that seemed to be the issue.

WquLCC3KC_Y

As you can see from the pictures the Holley plug is at the rear of the valve cover and of course it's just plug and play. Well in this case this
case we discover the issue. What we quickly discovered was the wiring was 180 degree's off. Ugh !!! Somehow number 7 is at the front of the
motor. So we called it a day and I will be calling Wiring Specialties on Monday.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/01/31/20230131170121-83b43821-me.jpg

I pulled the harness out and noticed they were numbered (( DA !!!! ))

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/01/31/20230131170208-f798cfde-me.jpg

Hours later .... You know right before you are supposed to be at dinner for a good friends Birthday stupid idea's run through your head.

What if I flip the coil harness around and push some of the main harness from the inside of the car into the engine bay will it actually reach.

Yep, But it's tight.

Yep, We have an oil leak.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/01/31/20230131153510-f1e7942c-me.jpg

Thankfully I picked up the Earls "O-Ring" version a couple weeks ago.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/01/31/20230131153519-bb2c2ad2-me.jpg

This time I added the PFT tape before it leaked.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/01/31/20230131153527-e61d91ee-me.jpg

Looks like I have a second leak as the Oil Pressure switch at the back on the block is leaking and most likely the culprit.

Happy Sunday Morning,

It's Sunday and I am feeling good.

Today I am going to change up my top post battery wires for the last time.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/01/31/20230131153558-1a1734da-me.jpg

I move the ground wire that was on the top post to the side post so all the grounds are killed when I twist the switch on the battery.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/01/31/20230131153601-a5342876-me.jpg

I will eventually clean the wires up in the inner fender.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/01/31/20230131153605-427d6f84-me.jpg

Something is missing.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/01/31/20230131153607-46a5c3ab-me.jpg

All better

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/01/31/20230131153552-3e76fde8-me.jpg

I sent Andrew a text of how nice it was running and he called me and said let's finish this thing and so here we go.

I told he we still have and oil leak so I am going back to fix it with PFT tape instead of the paste.

Couple more small leaks.

Nothing major just needs to be tightened

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/01/31/20230131153842-6f428d35-me.jpg

Since I missed the PFT tape everywhere else I decided we needed to look at the fitting under the manifold.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/01/31/20230131153853-1a9a1130-me.jpg

Since the intake tube needs to be bead blasted and anodized black it was no big deal removing it.

Congrats Marty!! Can't wait to see that beast out in the sun again!

For now you can de-pin the weather pack at the end of the coil harness and move the wires around so they connect correctly to get the harness back situated the way you want. The #s on the coil plugs will be wrong, but you won't have the harness hanging off the engine.

I can certainly do it, but it isn't rocket surgery. This is the big Holley wiring manual:

https://documents.holley.com/techlibrary199r10555rev17.pdf

The document is hyperlinked, so go to the second page and click on Wiring Appendix.

Scroll to Figure 24 on page 37. That the wiring diagram for your engine harness. You are not going to touch any of the wires on the main harness side, but only on the coil sub harness. We are only concerned with 4 wires, specifically the ones going to cavities G, F, C, B. Those are the ignition trigger for each coil.

The triggers are on cavity C of each coil connector. The wire from cavity C on cylinder #1 should go to cavity G on the 8 cavity connector....So...

Cylinder #1 goes to G
Cylinder #3 goes to F
Cylinder #5 goes to C
Cylinder #7 goes to B

Let me know if you have any questions.

So, I tried to remove the pins however the heat shrink is so close to the terminal that it is
impossible to pull on gently. The other issue is the black retaining clip is in the way so I quit.

Moving to plan B. I going to have a gentleman out from Florida build me a new Coil harness that
is wired correctly and I am sending these back to Summit Racing since the guys at Wiring Specialties
were not interested in Helping me.

Here is the picture before I move the black clip back and now imagine how tight the space is.

Just cut the heat shrink off, then when all the terminals are out of the connector, you can add a new piece of heat shrink before pushing the terminals back into the connector.

A quick trip to Home Depot for Stainless Steel Hardware. I bought Phillips head and Hex head bolts.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/20/20230220221659-4b1bc794-me.jpg

I opted to use the Hex head bolts as it would be very difficult to get Phillips screwdriver on the bolt due to it's location.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/20/20230220221707-a58de53b-me.jpg

Looking down you can see it would be much easier to get a box end wrench on the bolt. Hopefully I will never have
to remove it but with proper planning it will be much easier to work on.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/20/20230220221705-02e60366-me.jpg

It actually sits in front of the sway bar so there are no issue's

I will get better pictures (( Side Shots )) today and add it to this post.

Me and this Optima battery are starting to become intimate as I a have held here so many times in the last two weeks.

I used stainless steel self tapping screws to secure the Adel Clamps which I acquired on one of my trips to the local Napa Autoparts.

Once again I played with the intake tube so I can get the bracket made to support the intake tube.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/02/22/20230222141505-0062e346-me.jpg

I used the blue tape to reference where the tubes need to be once the clamps are tight. What you can't see is how
far I had to push everything into the couplers.

I ordered this bracket a long long time ago and somehow misplaced it. When I ordered I told Dave at Screaming Chicken
that the best way to find it is to order another one. Well, I was correct as the day I went out to the garage to install the
bracket I found the first one I ordered.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/01/20230301170301-e8636261-me.jpg

Step One - Remove the DBW Assembly

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/01/20230301170316-2d581ebb-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/01/20230301170320-4f929129-me.jpg

Step Two - Remove the factory pedal.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/01/20230301170324-b38bfe8f-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/01/20230301170328-9be2525e-me.jpg

Step Three - Cut out this Template

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/01/20230301170333-6f61ccfd-me.jpg

Step Four - Place the Template and Drill a hole in the target.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/01/20230301170336-6de388a3-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/01/20230301170341-ce7b5abe-me.jpg

Step Five -- Remove my bad ass Billet Pedal

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/01/20230301170351-7cef5e16-me.jpg

Pictures for reference

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/01/20230301170400-5a43aa99-me.jpg

Step Six -- Install Pedal on the new bracket from the guys at Screaming Chicken.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/01/20230301170403-7ae540d0-me.jpg

One of the features I like with this bracket is it allows me to move the pedal over roughly 1/4"
which I think is what I need to miss the carpet on the trans tunnel.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/01/20230301170407-f0278e32-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/01/20230301170421-4985c900-me.jpg

Eventually I did move it over to the other side and it clears the carpet

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/01/20230301170423-e95fc5c3-me.jpg

One thing that I will have to do is replace the nut that I am using as a spacer. If you are using a factory
pedal you won't have this issue.

I know I'm the minority here but every time I see an K&N air filter I think back to this story my buddy told me last year - how he'll never use a K&N air filter again.

He had 2 different vehicles with problems resulting purely from those filters.

"It's the oil on them. It ruined the MAF sensors. 01 Silverado and 18 Diesel Cruze. 65,000 miles and 82,000 respectively and poof! Sensors went bad."

FWIW I guess.

Another quick trip to on the four Home Depots within 3 miles of my home. I purchase yet another (can't find mine)
2" Hole Saw. My plan is to drill a slightly smaller hole then necessary which will allow for a tighter fit.

is complete some of the twist ties will be replaced with zip ties.

Routing the wires for the Holley Dash

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/14/20230314142425-92316542-me.jpg

I tried to make the power wires look factory even though no one will ever see them.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/14/20230314142428-bc32a32a-me.jpg

Of course I labeled all of them.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/14/20230314142431-9fe6bab3-me.jpg

Since I am not using the factory radio I am going to use the power from the radio harness to power the Holley Dash.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/14/20230314142434-a88c4f64-me.jpg

I dug out the wiring diagram for the radio so I know where to connect the wires.

I just want to say the guys at Anvil are the best. I called them and told them my closeout panel didn't match the inner fenders

It's all about the detail and being able to service / get to / find all of the wires if your on the side of the road broke down.

I need/want to route the wiring for the neutral safety switch through one of the shifter brackets versus around the bracket. Doing this will
direct it straight up to the firewall. I took a couple reference pictures so I don't have to try to remember where the wires plug in. The
good news is I can only actually screw up two of the wires.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/14/20230314142820-ad6215e7-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/14/20230314142822-431887a1-me.jpg

Sorry this is a terrible picture but the bracket is laying on the carpet is the one that needs to be modified.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/14/20230314143248-bf9c71c5-me.jpg

I started by using smaller drill bits stepping them up slowly till I got to the 5/8'' bit. I tried to use a step bit but that SOB ripped
the bracket right out of my hand.

Trust me using the 1/2 drill scares me but I did drill very slow.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/14/20230314143251-5413cbfa-me.jpg

After the hole was drilled I filed it into a square hole since no one make a square drill bit. Well that is a lie as the do
make them for wood working. Trust me look it up.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/14/20230314143246-00bbbbf7-me.jpg

More questions about the label maker.... what labels are you using? Is it actually a tube that you are sliding over the wire then the clear heat shrink over that?
Saw the link for the actual label maker.....

The good news is you’re printing directly on the heat shrink. Then you slide the clear heat shrink over the shrunk printed yellow heat shrink.

You all know I like my lists so I made another one for this week.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/23/20230323201944-5400b2a2-me.jpg

First up I am finally securing the heaters hose in the inner fender.

More needed parts from ICT Billet

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/23/20230323202006-d8cc7054-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/23/20230323202009-2e1349c2-me.jpg

Now that I have all the pieces I need to make the connection I just need the balls to cut the hoses.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/23/20230323202012-c6840edc-me.jpg

Well I couldn't do it so I moved on to the battery ground wire that is now neatly tucked under the battery tray.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/03/23/20230323202032-e7e360b9-me.jpg

With the battery wire sitting so close to the lower radiator hose I decided to wrap it in DEI Heat Wrap.

Due to the location of the Battery Hot Wire I am going wrap a small area of the wire in DEI Heat Wrap and will
then add a thin abrasion wrap to protect the wire and make it black so it disappears in the engine bay.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/10/20230410152652-a9b508d5-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/10/20230410152658-6398699c-me.jpg

I am going to shorten the DEI Heat wrap and install the abrasion wrap once it gets past the lower radiator hose.

Here we go !!!

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/10/20230410154117-1ea0fa48-me.jpg

First up is to install the Vintage Air Unit.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/10/20230410154119-ca74e717-me.jpg

Since I have no hair on my head I started wearing a very thin skull cap from Headsweat. It's not a true Bump Cap so l am calling
it a Tap Cap as it gives me warning that I am about to hit my head on something.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/10/20230410154122-f49751c5-me.jpg

I sprayed the drain hose with WD40 Silicone to help it slide through the floor drain grommet.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/10/20230410154124-5091db8a-me.jpg

Of course the fun part is installing all of the nuts.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/10/20230410154127-7977ccbe-me.jpg

It's hopefully hanging for the last time.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/10/20230410154130-f956bf8c-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/10/20230410154135-69abaaeb-me.jpg

I double nutted the Relay's to make sure they don't fall off. I had planned to use a Nylock nut like I did on the other's but felt it might be brutal to have to remove while laying under the dash.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/10/20230410154138-de5290e8-me.jpg

I am stilling trying to decide if I am going to run the Neutral Safety Switch wiring under the carpet. However, I am going to use the Orange & White wire for my under dash lighting.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/10/20230410154132-71c44832-me.jpg

Holy Crud that is a mess of wires.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/10/20230410154150-ce9d4c9c-me.jpg

A long long time ago I made this really cool bracket to mount the Holley ECU and today hopefully will be the last time I hold it in my hand.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/10/20230410154152-0bab536b-me.jpg

Well, I was going to install the dash and it seems I can't find the clips !!

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/10/20230410154259-0d100616-me.png

Instead I will work on the final wiring.

Always make sure you take a picture of how the wires are run.

Thankfully D&R Classics is close enough for me to drive to so I picked up the needed clips for the Dash Pad install. (( 04-03-23 ))

So this is strange the outside studs are metric and the inside studs are standard.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/15/20230415105057-1024ef29-me.jpg

Not any more !!!

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/15/20230415105102-fb06fb96-me.jpg

I noticed the outside edges of the leather needed some adhesive so I decided to tackle this small project and call it a night.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/15/20230415105104-9e6ef1ba-me.jpg

If you don't own a pair of these I suggest you buy a pair as they will precisely cut paper and then cut thin
sheet metal. I have been using these for months and they still work like new.

This is big as the blue tape is finally coming off the metal part of the dash.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/15/20230415105039-dd056188-me.jpg

I loosely installed all of the clips to make it easier to install the dash pad.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/15/20230415105041-c2564328-me.jpg

Remy picture for Skip.

We all know what he is thinking "When is he going to finish this car !!! "

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/15/20230415105043-78967515-me.jpg

I gently placed the dash in the car since I will be doing it solo.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/15/20230415105045-c768abb1-me.jpg

I tried to physically push the dash pad in to engage the clips and that didn't work at all. So, I moved to Plan B and removed
the all of the clips except the two middle clips. This allowed me to push the dash pad in and fell like it wasn't going to fall on
me while I laid under the dash and put the clips in and then slid the studs into the clips. It's very important not to tighten
any of the nuts till all of the clips are installed.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/15/20230415105047-fdb53a68-me.jpg

Well it looks like I am going to illuminate the Fasten Seat Belt Light as I like how it looks.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/15/20230415105053-96105b4a-me.jpg

Last few nuts are now tight and I did install Nylock nuts over the nuts to make sure they don't come loose.

Looking in where the Dash surround will be I am very happy with my wiring as it is all easily accessible.

It's time to make the Classic Dash surround fit into my dash area due to the leather wrap.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/15/20230415104032-e54df351-me.jpg

The first thing I need to do is remove the Headlight Switch, Digital Dash and Autometer Clock.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/15/20230415104023-c42974fc-me.jpg

Instead of shaving a couple millimeters off the supplied bracket I chose to install two washer. On final install a star washer
as it will prevent the bolts from coming loose.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/15/20230415104025-05e4c206-me.jpg

All parts safely stored back in the box

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/15/20230415104037-3f2931b6-me.jpg

Time to start slowly trimming down the surround.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/15/20230415104030-450ad4c2-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/15/20230415104028-3372a147-me.jpg

As you can see I removed a lot of material.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/15/20230415104034-5feb614f-me.jpg

I need to enlarge the hole in the headlight switch and ended up pulling out the special drill bits to get it nice and tight.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/04/16/20230416130546-da498f5a-me.jpg

Funny story. I was at the Doctor a couple of weeks ago and the Dermatologist used this little marker
on leg. Since I love Green & Blue I asked her if I could have the marker since they have to throw it out after they use
it. She said yes and thankfully I had it as I tried ever marker I had to mark the hole that I need to drill and nothing
worked. I decided to look in my truck and I found it and it worked perfectly.

sheet metal screw into so it would be easier to install the surround.

Man I'm so happy to see the blue tape exiting the scene!!

Great job Marty!

After you get the dash together, might want to calibrate the vintage air controls to make sure you're getting full sweep of all the stepper motors in the base. If you have a gen IV setup, follow this procedure, had to use it recently on a car I was working on. Doesn't matter if you have the knob setup or factory style, calibration is calibration.

Hi All,

There has not been a lot of progress lately due to lack of time. The charity (www.ridejanieride.org ) that I part of main
event is coming up this weekend and I can't wait. I have been trying to sneak out whenever possible.

It's finally time to tuck the wires under the carpet in the TechFlex undercarpet flat weave.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/05/01/20230501135453-d0aea9ca-me.jpg

I used some Velcro to keep the heat gun trigger on and my bike stand to hold the heat gun.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/05/01/20230501135426-da692c33-me.jpg

I marked out where the Bitchen center console the Kenny built.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/05/01/20230501135430-5e169a4a-me.jpg

Wire has been neatly routed and protected.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/05/01/20230501135433-64297b4a-me.jpg

I also received the DEI Under Carpet Lite heat insulation that I will be using in the rear of the car.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/05/01/20230501135435-40deabc0-me.jpg

I plan to add a little extra in the rear adjacent to the DSE Sub-Frame Connector.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/05/01/20230501135455-ed2a8084-me.jpg

and don't forget to Buckle Up out there.

The month of April was very busy for me as every year we do a charity event for local for local family's battling Cancer. The To Do list
that I just posted allowed me to look at everything that I needed to do and it also allowed me to find the small projects that I could do
when I only have a small amount of time.

I needed connect the fuel level wire to the Holley ECU and of course I forget to run the wire down the passenger
side of the car. I did however run it down the drivers side but Holley wire I needed was on the passenger
side. So, now i have to neatly behind the Vintage Air Unit. Which turned out to be a major pain the backside.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/05/25/20230525114214-721a8f2b-me.jpg

I of course wrapped the shifter brackets with a towel as they are sharp as can be.

Okay, So I assure you I said a slew of choice words installing the final hardware for the Tiger Cage main hope. It's not the fault of
the bar it's the kick panels are so close to two of the bolts that you basically have to tighten the bolts a 1/4 turn at a time.

Okay, here is what we know and here is how we solved it.

Apparently the guys at Wagner put in a adapter in the block and left it open when they shipped it
to me. I was able to figure that out by all of the pictures I took.

Thank God !!!

is a nut driver and all you have to do is gently move the sound deadening back.

Today I will be working with the one arm man. I needed to get him out of the house so he could feel somewhat human again.

Since the line was in the car and I wasn't removing it we went to plan "B". We ran the line through a small hole right above the inner fender and out under the headlight.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/11/20230711141749-e75144e0-me.jpg

We raised the car up just high enough to let the line reach the crimping tool.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/11/20230711141752-4b8d5558-me.jpg

Finally crimped and attached to the AC compressor.

Let's just say this was a big learning experience.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/11/20230711141808-5607b427-me.jpg

Per the instructions we made all of the connections an applied Air to create a vacuum. Well, we were only able to
get 5 bars which is not even close to the 20 we need. This meant we had leaks and most likely more then one.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/11/20230711141810-e215cb8f-me.jpg

Found leak number one.
Apparently I had the clamp to close to the end of the hose which caused the leak.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/11/20230711142534-69fbdb09-me.jpg

Leak number 2 & 3 had the same issue.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/11/20230711142538-49b94935-me.jpg

yes this one sucked to get to

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/11/20230711142546-e4ba6fd7-me.jpg

Years ago I made this block and it is the exact same height as the lift and man did it come in handy that day.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/11/20230711142552-7897eea5-me.jpg

I moved all of them down and this issue has been resolved.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/11/20230711142554-91543d89-me.jpg

Next up with the thermostat housing.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/11/20230711142600-8d515505-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/11/20230711142558-7f62f480-me.jpg

Well, this one was all my fault. I picked up a thermostat for and LS1 not remembering that this motor has the
Wagner front drive and a new water pump. So let's just say it leaked.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/11/20230711142602-62745633-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/11/20230711142614-fb6ae506-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/11/20230711142618-13cfaff9-me.jpg

Eventually I plan to add coolant so I am leaving the rope up for that day.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/11/20230711142622-9f892537-me.jpg

If you are only going to do this a couple times this is what I used. It is definitely not a commercial grade item but for $40.00 it worked.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/11/20230711142625-93ab8274-me.jpg

I know it looks complete however the tubes are shoved way far into those hump hoses. So I will need to remove a some of the material.

I marked where the hump hose ends so I know how much that I need to remove.

Since the intake tube is just literally just hanging off the throttle body I need to finish the support bracket.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/11/20230711154332-e325e8ff-me.jpg

I have desire to remove the fan shroud to make holes so Self-Taping screws to the rescue.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/11/20230711154334-07de9e0e-me.jpg

I can't seem to find my 1/4" adapter for my drill so I am going to improvise.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/11/20230711154339-308e2d8a-me.jpg

Since the cardboard bracket won't be strong enough I am going to run over to High Speed Welding after work
tomorrow and have him make me an aluminum version.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/11/20230711154445-c3c4f385-me.jpg

yep, the screw is just short enough.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/11/20230711154441-57351cf6-me.jpg

It's hard to see but there are rubber grommets the bolts go through so I will be using Nylock Nuts so I don't have to
worry about them coming loose. You can also see the bolt that is on the intake tube that I will be using to secure
the intake tube to the bracket.

Marty the car is looking awesome!! Can't wait for you to get some miles on it, time to burn the gas in the tank!

If you ever need hose clamps for filters, hit home depot or Lowe's. Go to the toilet hardware section, they sell nice stainless steel polished 4"+ clamps there. I bought a bag of them and keep in my garage for such occasions. Actually had to use one this weekend to install a tach in a 72 C10 :D

I also get mine from the plumbing section. They've got all sizes, stainless, and I find the quality is much higher than the auto parts version.

Not sure if you guys remember but I misplaced the original Thermostat after we found one at Autozone that
seemed to work or at least seal up the housing. Apparently I went to the autoparts store in the Cayman and
I must have put it in the Frunk (front trunk)).

I crossed reference the part number that was on it and the water pump is from an Escalade.

I've got the same exact torque wrench. Just so you don't have to find out the hard way, it only measures torque one way. After trying to torque reverse thread ring gear bolts I learned that.. AFTER damn near snapping the bolts in 2. Look at your pic and they clearly mark the direction with an arrow on the battery cover.. The more you know.:sieg:

OMG I never notice and that might be because I have never had to do a left hand thread before.

Holy crap and now that I say this I bet I will have to do this in the next couple months.

this was the first time I had to torque something left handed

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/07/30/20230730194353-85a2916f-me.jpg

Well we have a small issue. I am using a grade 8 Zinc coated bolt and washer and the washer is slightly larger then the bolt which
is interfering with the hold down bracket. So, the bolt is coming out and I am going to file a flat spot in the washer and attempt to
line it up with the bolt head. Which will give me just enough space to clear the bracket.

Nope, the washer rotated so I need to do it again.

This time around I started with the washer flat spot a little further back (counter clockwise) so when the bolt contacted
the washer it would move in sync with the bolt head. It took a couple try's to line up the flat spot with the nut on each bolt.

In the late 70's I had a 71 Camaro with a small block and 6-71 blower. I remember installing some Moroso anodized aluminum blower studs in the new Weiand intake by hand. Next day I went to remove them and several were like welded in place. Couldn't believe it, destroyed them getting them out. That's when I first learned about anti-sieze and the reason for using it lol.

and as you can see it is bent which most likely was from me bending negative battery wires terminal.

Since I bent the first brass battery shut off switch I need to swap it out with one that isn't bent.

I added a start washer so I don't have to worry about the bolts coming loose.

So I am getting close to driving the car. Actually I could drive it but I just want to get some other stuff done before I drive it.

I dropped off the rims and tires at Village Auto for the guy to mount them and well the rear tires went on really easy. I can't say the same for the fronts.

Next project is the passenger side door panel.

As you can see the holes didn't really line up.

I gentle used the nut driver to push down on the backing to release it from the board so I could install the clips.

I took a day off from the car and it was nice couple days off.

Back to the car and back to the reason why I posted so many pictures in the last post. I am hoping the amount of pictures I added
showed the amount of time it took to just do a simple door panel. If I had to quess I have at least 8 hours into just this one door and
I am hoping the drivers side goes much faster.

When I walked out to the garage I realized it was getting cluttered and I needed to clean it up.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/08/30/20230830111057-c212402e-me.jpg

Minutes later it looked like this.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/08/30/20230830111059-f8309dde-me.jpg

One hour later the floor was washed and the garage smelled like Simple Green and even made a table with the new wheels and tires.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/08/30/20230830111055-a4a463d0-me.jpg

My neighbors son came over and helped me with the door panel today. We marked all the holes that needed to be
drilled for the plastic clips and spent 15 minutes making holes and hoping they all were in the proper place.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/08/28/20230828172255-dfffbbf1-me.jpg

We installed all of the clips on the back of the door panel.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/08/28/20230828172314-ba28feb4-me.jpg

I couldn't get the stud started and I assumed it was because of the spring pressure.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/08/28/20230828172316-6249ebe4-me.jpg

Opps, I dropped it

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/08/28/20230828172317-180068f9-me.jpg

Since the part was freshly powder coated I added a small amount of heat shrink to the bottom of the spring to protect the paint.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/08/28/20230828172332-755be884-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/08/28/20230828172335-f5c4fa76-me.jpg

Apparently it was the paint that was keeping it from starting.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/08/31/20230831153737-596dfa59-me.jpg

Here we go

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/08/31/20230831153738-525a5729-me.jpg

First step is to remove the support bracket.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/08/31/20230831153742-9e483905-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/08/31/20230831153801-3e497716-me.jpg

I need to tap the small hole closest to the switch so I can bolt the bracket to the bottom of the tray. Since my eye's don't work as well as they used to I needed to take a picture of the tap.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/08/31/20230831153803-50ac342c-me.jpg

Drilled & Tapped

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/08/31/20230831153806-8d3bc094-me.jpg

I covered the bracket in duct tape to protect the inner fender.

Time to build the final ground wire and I have way to many wiring connectors.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903223924-6f69676e-me.jpg

While the mock up battery was in the car I estimated the cut length of the cable.

Looks good

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903223930-511daae0-me.jpg

This was the point when I should have swapped to the Black Anodized tray.

Confirming

Crimping with my helper.

Heat Shrunk cable end.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903223943-e0f3ec79-me.jpg

Confirming the gap.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903223942-8bc067e9-me.jpg

I enlarged the holes to allow some wiggle room.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903223947-8562c42a-me.jpg

Time to make some battery bolts. You can see that I used a shouldered nut and grimmped that in the vice and then I installed
the bolt and tightened it. At this point I can cut the bolt and not damage the visible nut.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903223948-d675074c-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903223950-59982b46-me.jpg

I also shortened the acorn nut to it didn't poke into the bottom of the battery case.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903223952-4cd7c37c-me.jpg

Since the negative cable is close to these two nuts I swapped them out.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903223955-dd0f11a4-me.jpg

Much better looking and of course they won't damage the ground wire.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903223953-8dae2984-me.jpg

If you look at the ground wire you can see I wrapped it in DEI Abrasion wrap.

Tray is in.

Support Rod is in.

Final Battery Bolts !!!

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903224016-482e8d9e-me.jpg

This is the hardware I will be using on the battery hold down brackets and I will be using star washers on all of the bolts.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903224019-4438a92e-me.jpg

I need to swap out the bolt circled in red as it will be supporting the AC line.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903224022-3301e65a-me.jpg

Enlarging the holes so I don't have to go to Home Depot !!!

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903224027-f011f9c5-me.jpg

Test Fitting

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903224032-115fb079-me.jpg

AC Hose secured.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903224024-649001ea-me.jpg

The area circled in red was bent into the engine compartment and it sure did look like it was going to eventually cut through
the ground wire. So I gently bent it flat and added some black touch paint.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903224034-8f2650bc-me.jpg

I also put a note reminding me that there is a Nylock nut on the other side.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903224035-742cc3e3-me.jpg

I ended up going Hi-Vis

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903224037-8a7989a8-me.jpg

More star washers and I also confirmed that the longer bolts would not poke through the bottom of the battery tray.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903224039-7ec12a96-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903224041-b555fe1b-me.jpg

I installed the bracket and tightened prior to installing the battery.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903224043-36a8893c-me.jpg

I really hope this is the last time I have to lift this battery.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903224046-b7ad8c0a-me.jpg

Ugh, I need to remove a little bit of plastic.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903224048-f6b5b07e-me.jpg

Thankfully the utility knife worked.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903224051-58d88781-me.jpg

It's in !!!!

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903224052-678b8f69-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903224054-941f5f3d-me.jpg

and it' off

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/03/20230903224057-6a59bd23-me.jpg

Vintage Air lines secured and it looks so much better.

What does the ceramic coating on the wheels do? Easier to clean brake dust?
Car is coming along great.

Exactly and once I start driving the car I will keep you posted on how well it does.

On a side not I am going to have him do the wheels on my Cayman and I am also going to change the pads from race to street pads.

I had Budnik do that to a set of their wheels on my GTO, made cleaning them like doing a chrome wheel. No more polishing, stayed much cleaner than a normal aluminum wheel.

That is exactly what I am hoping for.

Since the Optima needs constant charging with all of the on & off I have done with the ignition I decided to add the charge plug back on.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/18/20230918213259-1e730bdb-me.jpg

I had to remove the air filter so I could get the rest of the tape off.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/18/20230918213310-4ad565db-me.jpg

Anvil Radiator cover installed and I can't wait to see the Anvil Core Support cover installed.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2023/09/18/20230918213312-0d0b2107-me.jpg

I needed to clean out the threads on the factory blind nuts
