Careful now, you know how those ARP bolts ate the truck's budget up !!!
Ok, they are like car candy and we just can't help ourselves ... oh all right, go ahead !

Great numbers on the motor ! Even the LS1 will do some impressive stuff. That will be fun.

Don't you have something to do? I see the light bulb coming on all the way over here in PA!
Nice Stuff Marty. We couldn't be happier with our Wegner experience. They in my opinion have the best front drives on the market.

2nd Chance Camaro - Goodmark Fuel Tank
2013 03-13 Update -Goodmark Fuel Tank
www.2ndchancecamaro.com
Good Morning All,
Okay, as most of you already have guessed I am way behind on posting updates. Let's just say the last 9 months
have been really fun (sarcasm). Chemotherapy is finally over and it's time to bring you guys up-to-date on the
car. As for my health everything looks good and so far all of my test have come back perfect. Good news!
Now back to our regular scheduled Updates.
Since we are running a Carburetor on the car I ordered up a Goodmark Industries stock replacement tank from Summit
Racing. I also ordered all new hardware to install the Tank. Summit Racing has sure received a bunch of my money in
the last year. You can't beat there service and pricing.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2015/12/20/20151220210028-606d7e49-me.jpg
I really like seeing Made in the USA & Made In Canada.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2015/12/20/20151220210034-807697b1-me.jpg
Kenny will make the necessary modifications on the front of the tank for the fuel line and the Edelbrock electric fuel pump. The Fuel Pump
will be mounted on the tank directly behind the differential. Moving the lines to the front of the tank is much safer then having them coming
out of the back of the tank and being exposed.
On the power Tour several years ago a car with a low hanging fuel tank & rear exiting fuel lines caught on fire after it gently rear ended at
a stop light. Moving to lines to the top or front of the tank is much safer location.

I don't believe they ever made a stock cowl hood for a 2nd gen. Correct me if I'm wrong? My cowl was grafted on from a chevelle SS hood, it has no "line" down the middle.

lucky enough to win parts from both Fesler Built & Holley for the Camaro. In the end it was a win-win for all.

I drove home in 2010 and I swore I would never do it again. 1732 miles in a Camaro was fun till I needed a nap. When I got home I was so sore I laid in the hot-tub for an hour.
Ok to be serious most likely it will get hauled out there in Kenny's trailer and the bike will be on the side. I am trying to find another frame like the bike I ride and build a 2nd bike just for the car. So I will always have a bike on the car.
I do have a bike for the car but it's a hard tail and I am fairly certain my surgeon would tell me not to ride the bike.

Marty,
Love the build. When you catch up on the posts could you show a little detail on the MTB mount. Riding is my second love and it would be cool to put something like that on my 67. Sometimes it helps to see an idea close up to get the juices flowing. I have been riding more than working on the car. In a weird way seeing your bike mount got me out in the garage - go figure !!

2nd Chance Camaro - High Speed Welding Bike Rack
2013 04-11 2nd Chance Camaro - High Speed Welding Bike Rack

Good Evening All,
Here is an inside look at the "B" Pillar.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2015/12/20/20151220210655-51cb08b3-me.jpg
Once all of the welding was complete Joe added a final plate to increase strength.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2015/12/20/20151220210827-8d29bfa9-me.jpg
There was already a hole in the quarter panel from the antenna so we decided that the rear mount would use the existing hole.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2015/12/20/20151220210702-7019b21d-me.jpg
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2015/12/20/20151220210707-a3f4cce7-me.jpg
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2015/12/20/20151220210816-52b61fd0-me.jpg
The mount is then bolted to the bung which exits the quarter panel.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2015/12/20/20151220210819-85105810-me.jpg
We used the existing brackets from Rockymounts to anchor the tray to our bracket.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/upload/2015/12/20/20151220210823-27d28e03-me.jpg
Both mounts are removable and once removed all that is left is the bung.

I have the same problem you do. I am torn between working on my car or my bikes. Then you add riding into the mix and it really screws everything up.
Thanks again for your compliments on the build.

Uhm I forgot
Rear's
18 x 10 - bs 6.75"
BFG KDW2 - 295 35 18
Note: The DSE Mini Tubs allow me to bring the wheels in way further then a stock set up and yes these tubs are well worth the money.
Front's:
18 x 8 - bs 5.75"
BFG KDW2 - 255 35 18
Special Modifications
Ride Tech Upper & Lower Arms
Mcgaughy Drop Spindle
1/4 Spacer
Bear Tracker Tie Rod Ends ( modified spindle mount )
I thought you were using your stock spindles? I talked with ride tech recently and they didn't recomend using a drop spindle with their front suspension for Gen 2.

Thanks for always keeping us updated with your build. Its quite an amazing car. Unique, simple but not over the top with fabrication.
What made you choose the Ride tech 4 link verses a Watts link? As far as it being a car with a budget in mind it seems like the watts link was the less costly option and still a proven design? Im still learning about a watts link setup and everything else that goes along with it and picking between those two options right now.

Are you wanting to do leaf springs and a watts link? I can't imagine that a watts setup plus aftermarket springs would be much cheaper than a ride tech four link. You also have to think about the leaf spring mods you would have to do for a mini tub and 335 tires and in my mind the four link seems pretty obvious. Also, you get some options for adjustability.

I am unsure right now about what I would like for the rear suspension. I have time so I am trying to figure the plan out for it. a 295 or 315 is fine for me. Wide is awesome but not the most cost effective for something I intend to drive often. Fays watts link is only $650. new set of leaf springs and decent shocks maybe a couple hundred more. If i was going to try and tuck a 335 ya offset shackles and deep tub would be needed and costs go up. My room mates TA has 315 and he just rolled the fender lip. Rear quarters are almost identical. The watts link can be added to most suspension setups. A watts link can be added to the 4 link setup as long as it does not conflict with range of motion for the 4 link or mounting for it. There are several watts link setups that include coil overs, TQ arms and links. BMR is one of them and there are a couple others out there that have a watts link added to their style suspension. I understand going with one company for front and rear suspension and Ride Tech is a great choice with amazing support team and customer service. I'm just curious for a budget build why not a watts link and off set leaf spring shackles to accommodate tire size wanted? If it was considered if there was a deciding factor behind picking one over the other.

Thanks for the compliments on the build guys I really appreciate it.
As for why I choose the ride-tech rear set up.
There are some pretty simple reasons.
My goal was to have a 285 or 295 rear tire on the car with one day a matching front tire. If I choose the leaf springs the tire would be really close to the springs and very close to the outer fender lip and I didn't like either of those options.
I actually had purchased a set of mini-tubs from DSE and a set of used DSE leaf springs from a board members but DSE would not sell me the offset spring perch mount even after I begged them to sell them to me. Long story short the springs went into the scrap metal can so they didn't end up in a land fill.
So keeping with the do it yourself at home theory. I made a call to the guys at Ride-Tech and said I wanted the car to sit lower then stock and have some adjustability for spring rate and ride quality. There kit is pretty much bolt in with minor welding and the best bang for the buck.
I was able to do 95% in my garage with my 11 year old daughters help and I only needed the axle brackets welded on. I think I was charged 90 minutes of shop rate to have the kit welded in and that included setting the pinion angle.
Now if you compare it to the Quadra-Link (which is awesome and proven) most shop estimate between 40 to 45 hours on the install and if you don't have a welder / fab skills that is a huge chunk of money as most shops charge between 60 & 85 dollars an hour. (( $2400.00 -- $3400.00 ))
For me the goal with this project is prove to myself I could build a very capable car and save a boatload of cash doing. Spend money where it was going to make an impact and save money and for me Time.
As you kids get older you don't have 5 hours every night to go out to the garage to work on the car and in most case with the RideTech coilover kits you can take you car apart in the morning and be back on the rode by lunch time.
In the end Customer Service, Quality Parts and Proven combinations is what made me choose RideTech. Plus there all pretty darn nice !!:topic:

The car is Satin Blue from the Audi R8 with subtle Carbon Accents. The goal is not to be flashy and as a plus I won't have to wax it. Just run it through the touchless car wash a couple times a week. Just call me lazy.
Version 1 Tranny is 700r4
Version 2 Tranny is going to be a 4l60e with a Twist machine Paddle shift set up. ( already own it and can't wait to put it in down the road )
I have the billet pedal assembly to run a manual trans but I want a nice cruiser right now so Auto magic it is.
There are two bikes for the car.
Bike 1 is a Trek Ticket (Show Bike)
the bike is Silver with Blue Accents ( it's pretty bitchen looking)
Bike 2 is a Jamis Dakar 650b Pro
with Red Industry9 Torch Hubs & there new Trail Rims, Race Face bars, stem, seat post, cranks and a SRAM drivetrain.
this has become my new go to bike and I want it with me so I can ride after a Good-Guys Show.

The only damage so far is when we moving the Body In White Challenger out of the garage and on to the transporter. The 2 x 2 square tubing metal dolly hit the floor and as we dragged it across it gouged the floor. Sooner or later I may get it fixed but I doubt it.
7 Chicago winters and it looks just like we put it down yesterday.
I am very happy with it so far.

Hi Trey
I know this is going to be hard to believe but these are the only pictures I took.
Info "Only Some"
1. Yank the axles and cut off the end where the "C" clip would attach
2. Press on the new bearings and bracket from Moser
3. Cut Tobin's Caliper Brackets to make it a "C" so it can slide around the axle flange.
4. Machine a couple new Caliber Shims
5. Install caliper - Check clearance and axle end plate
6. Push car onto trailer and say goodbye as Kenny drives away with it.
Now on a side note: I received an email from a gentlemen and he warned me that the Moser ends are designed for only straight line use and could fail. Anyone have any thoughts on this ????
Mind you this car is actually being build to be driven with very limited auto-cross.

Trey was kind enough to PM me what he's learned so I thought I would share it with everyone.
Strange has a new kit that they are saying is specifically for street applications that uses tapered bearings. Just thought I'd pass the info on since you said someone mentioned the kit was designed to go around corners.
here is the info and thank you Trey
STRANGE C-CLIP ELIMINATOR FOR STREET APPLICATION
http://www.competitionplus.com/drag-racing/new-products/13186-strange-c-clip-eliminator-for-street-application-
http://www.competitionplus.com/images/stories/february_2010/new_products/A1033kitframed3.jpg
Strange Engineering, Morton Grove Illinois, introduces a new style, specifically designed for street and/or strip, c-clip eliminator for most 10 & 12-bolt GM car rear ends equipped with c-clip style axles. In the past, c-clip eliminators for these applications have been designed for drag racing, which use ball bearings. Ball bearing c-clip kits are fine for drag racing, but are prone to leaking and premature failure when used for prolonged street use. Our specially designed c-clip eliminator kit (A1033) utilizes Timken unit (tapered) bearings, which survive severe side loads and constant use.
The Strange A1033 also features two seals per axle shaft, ensuring a completely sealed axle end. Complete axle and c-clip eliminator packages are also available.

This quite disturbing as I included the c-clip eliminators to my Moser rear end when I ordered it directly from Moser and told them the car was primarily for street use but occasional track use. The guy NEVER said no, this won't work for you!! :bang:
From Moser website in the FAQ section:
Can I use c-clip eliminators for street use?
Answer - We do NOT recommend using C-Clip Eliminators for street use; a C-Clip Eliminator is made for drag race only ( As a safety issue so you do not loose an axle, if it breaks ).C-Clip Eliminators are made for the straight shot down the strip. If you use C-Clip Eliminators on the street the aluminum block will eventually flex from cornering or just going around curves causing the C-Clip Eliminator to leak Rearend fluid.

Complete axle and c-clip eliminator packages are also available.
none of this bothers me , he never drives anything !

So here is the plan for the car as this will be my last big build for the next 6 years. I have to put some money away
for College. Right now we are in Phase 1 of the build and there will be three more phase's over the next 4 years. So
this should keep the guys at BBT & Kenny busy for awhile.
Phase 1 - Satin Paint, Gloss Stripes - Nice Driver Build Up with a Bitchen Mountain Bike on the side of the Car from Trek Bikes.
Phase 2 - Major Interior Modifications, Twist Machines Paddle Shift, Recaro Seats and a few more crazy modifications. Only a few people know the plan and they think it's over the top and Trend Setting for sure.
Phase 3 - Firewall & Cowl Modification, C6 Style Subframe, Custom Kore3 Brake Upgrade, and another Set of Billet Specialties Wheels. SLP 427 Motor & ??? Trans.
Phase 4 - Gloss Paint, More Carbon Fiber and a few more one-off ideas. I can't keep the car a Bolt-Together Camaro for ever.
Here is a Sneak Peak of the car in Paint.

I am also looking to sell my Tahoe since I only use it to pull my trailer. I am talking with the guys at the roadster shop about making a c10 chassis that can haul the trailer and then run the autocross track at Good Guys events. Kenny has found a few patinated C10 truck that would be cool but timing isn't good right now.

As for Sema. Were are looking at our options. I like the idea of being outside as the exit is very easy compared to being on the inside. I will keep everyone posted if we actually go.
We've decided not to bring the car to Columbus to much work and not enough time to complete the car. So now were shooting for GG Indy. It will give the guys at Custom Works Products time to complete the rear Carbon Fiber Bumper.

Not to worry I will be at Columbus and Kenny will also be there since I booked his rooms. Seems he forgets every year it's my job to book the rooms.
If the car goes back to Kenny's after Indy I would love to take it to Texas as Kenny talks about that show every year. As for doing the tour I can't do it this year because I took to much time off last year with Surgery and Chemo so my co-worker get priority vacations this year because they all have covered for me for the past 12 months.
Odd how the name of this car has new meaning to me ... 2nd Chance.

Looking good Marty!
What are your tire sizes & wheel offsets?
Fronts are:
255 35 18
18 x 8 with 5 3/4 back spacing
Rear
295 35 18
18 x 10 with 6 3/4 back spacing ( with Mini-Tubs )
The end goal is to eventually have 295 35 18 on all 4 corners with 6 3/4 Back Spacing.

Thanks guys more to come this evening. It was a crazy weekend my wife finally convinced me to sell my daily Mountain Bike hauler and buy a new sport Utility. I forgot how nice it was to have space inside a vehicle.
Did I mention that I only got to drive it home from the dealer and have not seen it since.

It's hard to believe but 5 years ago we bought a Mazda3 for my wife to drive into the city and for me to haul my bike around on weekends. The car was great when my kids were small and no longer worked well 5 years later. So my wife & kids decided we needed to replace it. Plus I could no longer stand listening to them complain so after a Doctors appointment (last one for 4 months) we stopped at the Dealer.
The first dealer was trying to convince me how rare and hard to find they are then I saw there inventory of 25 + so I said they can't be that rare. He made a snide comment and I just laughed. They even told me there nearest dealer just bought two from them yesterday. So I went home and found 125of them within 25 miles of my house. I kinda laughed because I just love car salesmen and I new he was lying.
The sales person called bright and early and I told her I was heading to the other dealer because they had 12 and I was going to see what they would offer. After our conversation ended she must have gone to the sales manager because all of a sudden them came down another $1,750 and increased my trade $500.00.
When I went to the Naperville dealer they came in $2,000 less then there offer. In then end I bought it from the Naperville dealer for $5,000 less so it was only a $6,000 more then a fully equipped Chevy Equinox.
The part that sucks is I only drove it home and haven't seen it since. Seems my wife really likes it.

Good Afternoon,

Yes we powdered coated the Tiger Cage, sorry Bret. The funny part was it was already in the car and Kenny had to pull it back out
to powder coat it red. I bet Kenny called me a few names.

Here is a picture of the fenders going on so we could test fit the new GoodMark Industries hood. (Sorry about the picture Quality)
GoodMark was kind enough to take care of us on the Syborg project and in my world if someone takes care of you, you stand by there
side. So we purchased a new 2" steel cowl hood from them and the fit was spot on. We couldn't be happier. Scroll back up to see how
it looks on the car or wait till tomorrow and I will do another post with the hood on the car.

Kenny had to cut the short spoiler so it would clear the bike when the trunk opens.

Side view of the Wegner front drive. It offers plenty of clearance for an LS swap.

Tranny cooler lines. Odd but these fittings match the bike going on the car.

Coming along nicely, Marty. I'm really like the matte finish on the paint.

Probably would have been easier to just leave the bike off, huh?
Sorry, I had to bust on you a little! The car is looking real good!

It looks great and is going to turn a lot of heads. Especially when they see the bike attached to it. Very Nice Marty.

It's getting there and wait to you see the paint for the final coat of Satin Clear. It looks really nice Kenny & the guys did a great job. Especially since this is going to be my driver.

I can't wait to see the bike on the Car. I shipped the bike to Kenny last week and it's pack with shredded paper. Trust me that is going to make a mess when he opens up the boxes and I am certain he is going to have a few choice words for me.

Nah, the bike is what makes the car cool and stand out on a budget from all of the other Camaro's out there. This is truly Pro-Touring and it has nothing to do with going left or right.
