Here's some pics of the body work on Karma. You can tell by the pics that there is a lot less body filler used than before.

The car looks great! This series of pics was what I've been wanting to see. The sub frame and suspension is really nice too. Those wheels are killer! That front valance looks right at home there, the factory should have done that.
Did anyone ever try to weigh the car before and after the bondo diet? It had to be at least 100 pounds on there.
To all of the guys who laid hands on it to get it looking so good--:hail:

A little more patience

I just talked with Nick about the last part of Karma. We are going to
show what it takes to go from prep to paint as far as sanding ( show the different grit paper used to get ready for paint and the basic steps).
Then show a little about prepping the gun, mixing the paint, a little spraying technique and masking the car.
Basic stuff that a new guy might need to know

We still need front valance lights and trunk hinges to finalize fit and then we can start getting a plan together with Chuck to cover the last part of Karma's rebuild

I know it's been a long and interesting road but a little more patience and Karma's rebuild will be complete and ready to head back West
AND ALL THANKS TO THE :lateral: TEAM

Yea, I talked with Nick today about this.. The only problem is that Track Rat is at the same "prep for paint" stage.. just need to spread them out a bit.

Your story will be good since it's traditional glossy paint whereas the TR is the satin stuff. I'm sure you guys will provide some interesting tech.

Make sure you cover masking (ie, back masking, etc).. I think it's often overlooked and there is a trick to it. I've seen the first two stories all laid out.. they look VERY good.

Ya know I chime in again.

When I started working on my truck there was never a completion date set in stone. When I began working with Dave at Comp Fab we alway's joke when it's done it's done. Then the same with kenny and now that it's at Tracy's I feel the same way.

When it's done it's done and it will be the way it needs to be. So take your time do it once and get it the way it needs to be done. heck if your cars complete how are you going to post pics for us to look at.

Then what would we do.

jy211

Man I just wish everyone who wanted a car built understood this! :D

awr68
09-24-2009, 05:04 PM
Marty, we share the same car building philosophy!

I am deep into my seventh year and still have the attitude that I would rather have it done right than rush threw it and be disappointed. Pete and I talk often and agree that the car needs to be done 'right' this time and that takes a little more time...we both are fine with that. So it will be done when it's done...although it is nice that we are getting REAL close to seeing it in color! :D

Jail!? no, no, no....it's more like an extended stay at a luxury resort with weekly spa treatments. It's only jail if you can't get the car back or it's being held up by the shop, which totally isn't the case here. Man I would send a car to Pete and the crew and just say "let me know when it's done" in a heart beat. I'd be willing to bet there are more than a few of us here who have that kind of trust in the guy.

Congrats, love that shade of gray! I remember reading about your project long before I ever joined Lateral-g.

Paint really feels like a major milestone, doesn't it? Just imagine how great it will be to see it in person after the cut and buff.

I don't normally reply with the "your car looks great" kind of comments, but I feel compelled to in this case.

That Ferrari does nothing for the color...compared to Karma! Ferrari had no idea they made that color specifically for the 1st gen Camaro!
