View Full Version : Tony's car "Karma" has arrived
 Are those PMs from key board heros that have no real experiences? Consider the source. Are those PMs from manufacturers of competing products? Consider the source! Are those PMs coming from un happy Speedtech subframe customers (not likely)? Consider the source!

This may be a stupid question, but I'll ask anyway. What is the difference between stock, Speedtech, and the high end subframes? If the geometry on the speedtech subframe is the same as stock, then what would be the benefit of using it:question:
no stupid questions. the differance is
will fit up to a 20x10" wide wheel and a 285 tire.at a lowered ride height
lighter weight.
Gmod built in
can use other tubular arms ( if you desire) we prefer you order the hi clearance arms
air ride is a bolt in
will fit BB SB or LS
big 1.25" solid sway bar for use with hi clearance arms
also fits any after market sway bar if not using the hi clearance arms.
will fit any trans
we have headers that fit with the rack and pinion steering
as for the high end subs
they are hi end, there really good, their more expensive.
our sub concept was never to go head to head with DSE AME, it is a option for the guys who want to use aftermarket camaro components instead of mustang II parts. having said that all the testing we have done, the car handles awesome. Frank has beat his up pretty good and is happy with the performance.

I can't quite tell from the pictures but what is the bushing material in the control arms? I sure hope it's a Delrin bushing and not poly........other wise looks freakin' awesome.
Is it getting powder coated or painted?
Blake Foster
11-26-2008, 12:10 PM
yes 100% Porosity free Acetrol delrin, the machining on them is done hi speed and more than one person has mistaken them, as most delrin is not machined as well.

We have been waiting on some stuff to come threw. So here's the plan with Tony's car. We have all these new parts for KARMA by the people on Lat-G to help out KARMA.
We are going to start with some tech for Camaro Performers since they have been a big part of this. It's going to cover full quarter install, power windows, glass install, front sub frame line up with front sheet metal, and complete prep and paint tech.
So we are going to have to work on a couple different schedules. We should have the quarters and the rest of the parts by the end of next week.
Then we will start project KRAMA

I decided since the direction that Tony's car is going in that it would be best to replace both quarters. As mentioned before, Tonys car got 80% quarters put on it when he started this project. Now that full quarters are readily available it would be the best decision to replace them. The rear deck filler panel needed to be replaced so we're going to do that, the quarters and the rear tail panel.

Yes, the swept areas will be bare metal just like zink, but all the other areas will remain black. Wilwood has found that this coating holds up much better over the long run compared to zink.
Would be cool if the whole deal stayed black but reality prevents that :)

I'm sure it's been tested but I would be concerned with impregnating the brake pads with whatever that coating is. I've seen brake pads that appear to have been dipped in paint for whatever vendor is selling them then they grind the surface clean. The paint remains on the edges of the pad though. As the pad wears that paint gets into the friction material causing noise and sometimes vibration and uneven wear. This has been usually with more budget oriented pads though.

Its not paint, it is black oxide plating. Same basic coating as the zinc wash they used to use, but is just black instead of silver. it is also a little more durable than zinc to corrosion, more like cadnium.

All,
I read about Anthony's 68 and the most amazing thing people could do in the new Camaro Performers magazine today. A thread on the install would be nice. Have these in my 67 and my interior guy did an awesome job but said that they required a fair amount of massaging. The speaker size was 6 1/4. I installed a set of Focals. Really made the stereo system energized than just by having 6x9 in rear. Marquez did a really fine job in designing the panels.

I owe Shannon from Modo Innovations a HUGE than you! He sent over his newly designed pedal covers. They are of a one piece design, coated, and very functional! I really like this new design a lot!!
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee259/awr68/MB1100.jpg
This kind of shows the grip detail on the brake pedals. The gas pedal above has the accents machined into it (approximately .015”) so there are no
grip issues so your foot won’t stick.
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee259/awr68/DETAIL.jpg
I also sent him my raw aluminum Lokar gas pedal and he had it anodized to better match the clutch/brake pedals. It already has the Modo adaptor plate mounted to it in the pic.

Eric, I'm in Hillsboro...just west of Beaverton. The car should be home late May early June...I'll let ya know!
Hillsboro, I did a bunch of work at the Intel plant there when it was being built (a long time ago....).
Great! Thanks for the info, I am looking forward to meeting you and seeing that bad a** car of yours!

I am also looking for any updates/pictures. Tonys car and the whole mess of what he and the car went through before is the reason I joined Lat-G. So I am very excited to see updates. I would never have known of Lateral-G if it had not been for his car being mentioned in Camaro Performers along with a little bit of the back story. After I read everything on this site about that mess and how everyone jumped in to help I was just amazed (huge understatement). I knew then that this was the place to join, good people and some of the best builders and best cars on the planet. Why would anyone pass that kind of group up?
Cool another site referal from Camaro Performers.. I need to invoice Scott for that nickle now. lol
And yea, it is a great site filled with excellent people. :)

Thanks to my friends at Speed Tech I don't have to worry about modding my header on a painted car! They were kind enough to mock everything up at their shop and make the needed changes on the #1 primary where I was having steering shaft issues. These are the standard SBC 1-7/8" Stainless Works headers that totally clear a stock steering box...but don't clear a Unisteer rack. But from what Blake tells me, he has been working with SW and they now offer the right header for this combo!
Thanks again Blake, Paul, and crew!

Tony, I thought you built a turbo motor? Are you going to run it without the turbos first? Just curious - thought it was weird that you were using standard headers...
