Wow that exhaust is nice and tucked up! Lenie did you mod the floor to get it up so high? Also what wheels are you running? Just love everything about ths build! :hail:
Thanks Rick, yeah Brett did the exhaust and pulled it out of his bag of magic tricks. He built the headers thru stainlessheaders pvc kit and they turned out really nice, then fabricated 2 1/2" oval back to xpipe then round out of xpipe to mufflers which he drew up for spintech to have built and they tucked up really nice, then round over the axle somehow and cut them flush w/the back of the body. Ceramic coated the exhaust/muffler satin black and headers ceramic coated silver. Thanks again.

Thanks. When your car is done it will make many a Camaro owner take a second look, maybe even a certain purple Camaro owner. It definitely has a presence in pictures, and I've got a feeling it is the same in person So, any plans on driving it down to let us Socal guys get a closer look at it, or are we going to have to drive out to Vegas, or up the coast?

Ok, I've been a little lax at posting updates so I'll give it a shot. Been busy but most of my work has been fine tuning items that weren't quite there. Man everything on this car is tight. I'm not going to go over everything but I'll hit the highlights. I changed from coilovers to airbags because I wanted the car to sit low when parked, man what a challenge to get fitted with comfortable clearances. I removed everything, made new clearances on the rear end, manufactured new rear/front air bag brackets and purchase new front airbags. After airbag installation there was interference w/my pan hard bar and rear fuel lines on the bracket I built so I built new fuel lines w/a little different twist on the bracket. The floorboards got a little warm for my liking so I removed the exhaust and wrapped the entire exhaust system and blanketed the mufflers. I also purchased some thermazite insulation and added it to the roof on top of my fatmat sound deadener (big difference) and also will be adding it to the floor prior to installing carpet. So for a little catch up, on the entire exhaust system, I had it all thermal coated, added heat wrap and blankets in areas where I thought there would be heat issues, keep in mind, I sprayed U-Pol Raptor on the underside of the car, in the trunk and on the inside floor boards and firewall. Also added Fatmat sound deadner and now thermazite, whew. I've installed rear bumpstops, moved a lot of wiring from the tunnel to under the dash to make room for the center console design I think I'm going to build, checked front seat fitment, made cardboard templates for the door panels , built the armrest and think I now have a design I'm going with. I've framed in the rear seat area and added an overflow bottle for my radiator. I don't know if I've mentioned it but I bought a Marquez headliner from another member on the board, although in hindsight if I had it to do over I think I would stick w/a stock headliner. What a pain. You don't know how many times I lost it and almost threw it in the garbage. In the end I'm going to really like it more than stock but not being an upholsterer and doing this all myself it was almost overwhelming. Don't get me wrong, it's a very good product but as you know, no two cars are identical and it required a lot of fitting, trimming, fiberglassing, fitting, fitting, fitting and more fitting and because I modified the interior of my doors I had to figure another way to mount the twe side pieces. I've been at the headliner for about two weeks now but getting very close to finishing, Thanks Tracy for taking my call and giving me some good advice, really appreciate it. The urethane dash pad I ordered from MCB looks nice and fit very well, I was going to upholster it but now think I'm going to leave it as is. With Brett's help, I've removed the front swaybar that Wayne Due originally installed w/his front clip and am installing a splined swaybar to give me more turning clearance. Brett came up w/the idea/design, took measurements ordered the pieces for me and then cut and bent them to fit, I really like the idea/design. I then drilled and tapped them and added a few holes for weight and design, only have to powder coat them and install, then I can put the car back on the ground. There's more but that's enough for now, things are starting to really come together. I'm really hoping to finish by April, but doing it pretty much myself ya never know. Here's a few rough picks. When it's all said and done, I'm going to have to do a little paint touch up, wet sand and buff.

I cannot stop saying how much I love this car, Lenie! The thing I love the most about the entire project is your patience!!! You make minimal compromoses and do exactly what you want...if you don't have the means to do ti now, you wait till you do. That is something I have really struggled with...shoot I have built and sold 2 projects before you finished one and neither of mine can hold a candle to the quality in yours.
Again, hats off Lenie, I need to start exercising some friggin' patience...hahaha

Thanks Dave really appreciate it. My patience has run thin quite a few times but it's good to see the end is near. I'm really trying to give the interior an industrial look, there's going to be many a bolt showing. I really am liking the car though, Thanks again.

John they are Spintechs and I'm really digging the sound. Haven't got to drive it really yet and heard about the drone from others but I took a few extra sound barrier steps to help but I do really like them loud:D Your car is really looking good, love the paint. Greg, I read in one of your post way back you took yours off and tossed em' and let me tell you I've come close, not because of ride but installation nightmares:bang: . Hey Greg, I don't know how to bring the youtube video up but here's the links. Little help please.
So it's starting to get dark but after all your harassing I decided to take a couple cheesy video's. First is walk around and the second is pulling the car into the driveway w/weak little spin of the wheels. It's burning alittle rich so I still need to adjust the carb. Bad news is I was going to take a video of it coming back down the road but when I went to turn around down the road I lost the clutch. The pivot arm to the clutch fork fell out. I've got the heim set up so easy fix but I should of shot a video of the neighborhood coming to the rescue and pushing it up hill back home w/the wife steering:D

Hi Marty, the seats were fiero and we cut the headrest off. I scored on 11 darker red italian calf hides we are covering the interior in. My father inlaw who turns 80 this year was an upholsterer by profession refoamed the seats himself and then covered them w/the leather.

I was thinking to doing something similar. the seats in my 97 Trans Am are amazing, and I have driven thousands of miles in them at a time. So I was thinking to get a set somewhere (ebay or junkyard) and getting them reupholstered to look like the original deluxe interior seats (comfortweave inserts)
I have seen pictures of guys doing it with early 4th gen Camaro seats to make them look like the standard 1st gen firebird seats

Mad props Lenie. I can see what you meant by interior taking time and patience ... Ron, thanks. If I knew what I was doing, it wouldn't take so long. Trial by fire ya know. I ended up running out of perforated so I'm going to send another hide to that place you recommended in Cal... they were good. I've been at this interior now for a couple months and I was laying on the couch the other day thinking, ya know if somebody breaks into my house and robs the place while I'm at work.. please just don't steal the leather hides in the dining room or I'm screwed!!:bang:

Thanks Trey, I only have him help if I need sewing done. I'm doing the door panels and and center console myself and it's slow going. Alot of time on the computer trying to figure it out. Just the other day I get the inserts done on the passenger side, took me about a day and a half trying to get everything to fit right and wrapped, I then fit them on the main panel and the fit great and suddenly noticed I used regular leather instead of perforated which I used on the drivers side to match the inserts on the seats. It got very loud in my house for the next 5 minutes or so:bang: :bang: It's hell to get old. It's very nice having Tracy(Recovery Room) and Shannon(Interiors by Shannon) on the board to help and get ideas from, Two extraordinary upholsterers as we all know.

Funny. I'm thinking the polar opposite. Once mine is a running car it is on the road. A Rolling work in progress. My theory is I will want to change something or many things before I commit to making it a pretty final product. Like the test vehicles the manufactures thrash before finalizing the design.
I don't know where you get the patients to not drive it.:confused59:

Comes raw, you trim to fit, mirror, visors and dome light hold it in place and anything else you can think of to add, a lot of in and outs to finally get it to fit.
The tops of the doors are sheet metal fabricated and welded in.

I've been whining like a little girl lately so had to post something. Appreciate all the remarks. Greg you can have that toilet for $5 but there is a hell of a delivery charge. The toilet's for the kids house I've been remolding w/him, my garage is the storage facility:badidea: Got my flights and hotel (flamingo) booked for Sema, if the kid don't go, one of you are more than welcome to grab the extra bed. Raj, next year man, next year.
I had Tony over the other day, he owns stitches hear in Bremerton and does excellent upholstery. I've decided once I get the interior ready I'm going to have him cover the remainder (console, 2 back seat and package tray so I can getterdone and take Weld for a stroll.

Thanks, ya... I'm ready to be done. Tony at stitches is a great guy who does quality work. Two years ago, one of his upholtered cars won at the grand national roadster show in cali.
He has 4 guys working for him full time in the shop and keeps five cars working in there full time...and still his appointments are back logged. If I'd been budgeted for upolstery there are two shops I would have trusted to do the entire car...one of them is a member of this site accross country and the other, stitches is 20 minutes away.

It would be kinda cool Lenie if you 'found' Foulplay completely 'done' (ha) under your tree...need a big one obviously.

Boy howdy, no more fiberglass all over me every night, get itchy just thinking about it...Ummmm, I think I'd need a bigger front door to get it in under the tree:)

Been pushing the last couple of weeks in my garage doing the trunk, stereo and electrical to make it presentable/safe for a little road trip in the next couple of weeks. Needed to get my end of the work done by Tuesday so I could get it to the painters for some touch up paint work and cut/buff although a few paint items to redo down the road, now just trying to get presentable. Was out working this morning when first time in my life while getting out of the trunk pains shot thru my lower back and it locked up. Found myself in the fetal position on the garage floor w/nobody home for awhile before I was able to get back in the house and now pretty much can't move around. What the hel-? Couldn't have happened at a worse time....pissed! Common' man, could of waited 1 more day. Venting...

Sorry to hear that Lenie!!! Getting old is for other people -- it should never happen to us!
Lenie,
If you can work through the pain, stretch your hamstrings. I've had the same thing happen to me before. If you have to, lay on your back and have someone lift each leg with your knee locked. God luck.

Lenie Sorry to hear this. Did you try something that's got anti inflammatory like Advil. My doctor has me take 800 mg and it sometimes helps. Check with your doctor fist. I hope the pain eases up soon. I know not working on the car is going to drive you nuts but that stress will keep you back in knots even longer.
Feel better.
