Car is looking great. What are your plans for the rear bumper? I hate how bulky they look from the factory and I'm sure you've got something up your sleeve! Thanks for the motivation to get back in the garage and start wrenching on my 'Bird!!

Thanks, I used a 68 camaro bumper , narrowed it to get the gaps right, shaved the bolts and painted it black.

Hi Greg, the world keeps spinning while I stand still trying not to get dizzy.:willy: The answer you seek would be no, currently having wetland survey and geotech done. They want my money to tell me the land can be built on, this will be a long process. Just getting ready to put mine up for sale, along with possibly buying another piece of investment property. Like I said, the world is spinning and I'm just trying to figure out where I'm going to land, hopefully pouring foundation next spring. Thanks for asking.

Couldn't take it anymore, had to go out and work on the car a little. all lights installed including the Marquez driving lights. By the way, nothing goes as planned with ease, but it felt good to take a little break from the house and work on the car.

A bit off topic - but any chance you'd be willing to part with some of your non-show quality parts?

Found an old thread by David Pozzi showing how to relocate my shifter to it's original position so I've decided to try and give it a go. Pictured is the first half of the move, I fabricated a new relocation plate using 3/8" aluminum plate instead of steel, moving the shifter 1 1/2" down and 1" forward. Next I will have to change the husrt shifter making a stick adapter extending it up 1" and 2" to the right. Hope it works out.:_paranoid

I'm at a point where I'm needing some help completing and have checked out a couple of different places but really wanted to stay close so I can keep up on it and possibly help out so I could get some on the job training:unibrow: It couldn't have worked out better for me as I ended up meeting w/a fellow member who not only works for the same employer but lives about 3 miles away and was willing to help me take it on. I've admired his work and his get er' done additude and believe I'll have the car ready to go before spring, really looking forward to it. I've been trying to get the car moved to his place for the last three days but my buddy who owns a 28' enclosed trailer has been sick and it sits so low I really don't want a towing company involved. Keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow. Looks like I need to step up and purchase an enclosed trailer.

Got the idea from Michaels car at Prodigy Customs. A friend of mine named Mark Naglich cut the door out, made a template of the shelby cap and welded it back in one inch recessed. Turned out pretty cool I think but had to go to a 68 camaro bumper to make it work which I like also. Thanks

Little update, shockwaves are in(tight fit, had to manufacture a few special brackets to make it work), side glass/nurelics power window equipment and all associated pieces are in (what a nightmare as my xbody guy left us w/a few surprises). Driveline is in (and Todd if you're reading, I now have the correct driveline angle:yes: ) All brake/fuel lines are completed. Vintage air lines all installed, March power steering reservoir and associated lines installed, my Dakota digital vhx guages/American auto wire kit have arrived and ready to install and I ordered a set of Forgelines(at the end of the day, I just couldn't turn down the Black Friday discount). So I guess I'll have a set of Budnik Tillers/Michelin pilot sports package up for sale along with a set of coilovers here shortly. Been moving right along on the car here lately as I have a good person helping me. Two front seats have also been upholstered and ready to go.

Lenie,

The car looks great and I am very happy for you.

My only problem is how you have this car up on boards and a Floor Jack in the rear.. I am hoping it's only temporary and you don't actually get under the car. Accidents happen quickly and this is one that is waiting to happen.

Please tell me you own Jack Stands if not give your address and I will send you some.

Ps - I've already lost one friends because he thought he was safe under his car. Unfortunately for him he was not and his wife had to find him crushed under his car. He is now gone and she has to live with that memory for the rest of his life.

Hi Marty, thanks for your concern as getting under vehicles w/o being properly supported is something I constantly preach to my son. The picture is a little deceiving as we are just testing the stoke of the shockwaves. Other than the cribbing you see under each wheel, there are four jack stands and two jacks w/numerous jack stand available in the garage, thanks again as safety first is a priority.

Thanks Brent, you know the way cars go, anything can happen so until I fire up the car for the first time and step on the pedal, I'm trying to stay grounded. Right now we're mocking up headers trying to get the best fit possible for ground clearance. Going 1 7/8'' tubes to a 3" collector. Had a set of Dougs Headers (D568) which actually fit really well EXCEPT one of the forward drivers side tubes interferred w/steering linkage. Was going to cut and re-route the tube, then have them re-coated. Decided to go a different route. Really wanted to have Tim of Bruning do them but sounded like he was really busy, also seriously tried to set up a way to have a forum member (Big-head) do them as his header/exhaust work speaks for itself, absolutely beautiful welds/work:hail: but had no way to get the car to him and back, definetly would have went that route if I owned an enclosed trailer. Ended up going this route http://www.stainlessheaders.com/customheaders and keeping my fingers crossed.
Thanks again and it was good meeting you also at SEMA. Hopefully see you all there again next year!

I watched 3 men and a mule standing on them yesterday trying to get the tire on w/no success and man was my stomach in knots.... still is. Anyone else run into this problem before? That is VERY strange, I had a similar issue with my last set of Forgelines too. The 20x11.5 ZX3P's running a Pirelli 345/25R20 took the guys at Discount Tire in East Bremerton about 45 minutes to get on. I thought is was just because the tire was a 25 series, but maybe it was something else? My stomach was also in knots the entire time!

I don't know what they're using but they weren't able to get them on so they took them to a different shop in Renton so they could use a different machine. It's been over a week now and I haven't seen them. Yes, reverse mount and yes my stomach's in knots as the way things have been going lately, I know the wheels will not be returned in the same shape as they were delivered.:_paranoid

Well I met with the tire shop yesterday. Not only could they not get the 345's on the rear wheels but they did quite a bit of damage to both the black hoops finish and the polished spoke finishes. They were really easy to deal w/as they volunteered to ship the wheels and the michelin sports back to Forgeline for installation and to pay for Forgeline to re finish the wheels. Steve and Mark have been really good to deal w/through all this also and now are expecting delivery of the wheels to repair the damages. Now I just have to sit and wait again.

It looks like you have a soft lip rim. Which has to be mounted from the back side only. And you can only take them off from the back side.

yep, from the reverse side, got the fronts on but couldn't get the backs on. Messed up the lips and spokes. Tires are Michelin pilot sports 345/30/19's and 275/35/18's. The whole package is on the way to Forgeline for repair and install. Forgeline said they don't normally put this style of tires (runflats) on their rims??
I let them know if it's not a good fit just send the tires back and I'll just purchase a different recommended set through them to be installed. Just want to get it taken care of so I can get them on the car. Forgeline has been really good to work. We're all just a little confused as to what the issue is? I've been told by several installers these types of wheels are a bit difficult to fit tires on being such a snug fit to the barrels. The company involved does alot of the Rushforth installs here and they believe it may be the powder coated barrels which are coated inside and out??? That would be hard to believe but who knows. For now on I'm just going to leave it to the professionals, the wheel manufacturers and just buy my tires through them and have them installed before being shipped.

Lenie, I've had this problem. Before I had my wheels widened to 20x13, they were 20x11 with a 305/25/20 on them and it was hard for the shop to mount them. Now, they are 20x13 with a 345/30/20 and HRE told me to be careful letting whoever mount them so they won't bust the silicone seal between the inner/outer hoops. He suggested that I send him the tires and let them mount them. Plus, he said they would mount and balance them for free. So, that's what I did. I had the tires drop shipped from Tire Eack. What are the specs on your rear wheel? I mean, how wide are they? I like them, you did good!

Makes no sense to me. I've never had any problems having tires mounted and unmounted. The key is to find a wheel dealer with the high end machines. I had Discount Tire do it once but they boogered up one wheel a little. You better find somebody local or it's going to get expensive shipping wheels and tires across the country all the time.

Did the mount them from the back side ?

It looks like you have a soft lip rim. Which has to be mounted from the back side only..

So I really don't have any more updates pics of the car as it's sitting somewhere in a shop? Though it hasn't kept me front spending. Since we all likes pic's, here's a few quick ones.
Finished the polished valve cover covers.

Finished all the window original window trims and painted them black along w/aftermarket drip rail trim.

Screamin' performance sent me some of their kick panel speaker enclosures which will be wrapped in red leather.

Header built by Stainless Headers. Ground clearance is an issue so we stopped them just shy of the firewall, will transition to oval tubing to x-pipe then out round down driveline tunnel into a set of Spintech's out and over the axle. After I do an engine start up I send the headers and exhaust in for coating.

Thanks Gui, I'll try and get a few more pics for you. The tank is a 5 gallon dual compressor from ridetech, I bought the cover with it but my shock towers have been raised so there's no room for the cover but everything else fit really good, Brett's idea again.

Question for any of you following this build. Exhaust is installed from headers back, hopefully tomorrow we're going to fire up the motor, after that I'm going to remove the system, finish welding it, then have it completely coated. Instead of coating it silver, I'm contemplating having it coated satin black headers and all.
What do you all think, Silver or Black?

Went over to see the car last night, wiring all in, vintage air all hook up and blowing hard, airrides all installed and working, door poppers are in and working, power windows in and working, header and exhaust in and looks sweet..absolutely nothing hangs below the front clip, VHX gauges in and looks great, radiator fans, all lights and running lights work perfect and look good in the modified valance. Love the stance when car is dropped, currently tying up loose ends and installing stereo set up, all lubrications are in.. I should be doing interior in a couple of weeks. Lenie

The gauges and AC controls are great but seriously where are the pictures of the wheels. You know what wheels I'm talking about.:D

The exhaust looks sweet, attention to detail like that always makes a difference.

Repaired wheels showed up from Forgeline today. Couple of changes, decided to clear coat centers and sold my Michelin Pilot sports and bought Nitto's.
Like to add, I've never had better customer service then how Forgeline treated me throughout this entire process. If you choose Forgeline, you cannot go wrong with their customer service. Mark and Steve were both very good to work with. Thanks

nice to see it getting close, you are going to love the VHX gauges, super quality and easy to program. They have 1/4 mile 0-60 and a bunch of other memory functions-Chris

Been slowwly reading this thread, and wow. These rims are going to look killer on this slammed ride. I have always dreamed about a PTer with air to assist in the amazing stance. That makes the ride.... along with all the other good taste you got going on here.

I've gotta say (just 2 more cents here) that's the shortest test drive I've ever seen

And hide all the women and children, I did notice the cutie supporter in the background (I know I'm a dog).

 Lenie and congrats on a huge mile stone.

Looks awesome Lenie! I like how the black exhaust turned out. Helps it disappear. Those spintechs sound awesome too. Let see some more shots outside in the daylight.

Congrats
