Thanks for posting that Skipper!
Pretty good looking primer if you ask me...... LOL
I love that it changes colors with different light. It's exactly what I saw in the color when my son Alex suggested it. In this photo it's lighter grey -- in others it's a darker grey with a hint of black/brown in it. I love that.
You’re welcome Greg.

Greg it was a pleasure to see you in Texas and your truck is incredible .... did Rudy clean that bug splatter off the door hinge? I know it was a crazy weekend being there with such great people but I will always remember the sincerity of a good friend, even if you like my sister better than me :) ... hmmm Lillard said the same thing, ouch!
Went back Sunday and took my nephew to the autocross where he got his first ride with Chris Wheelock in his 99 Camaro and my sister got a ride along with Mike Dusold, awesome weekend!
Call if you ever need anything

Mike Dusold is a class act! Glad she got to ride with him! Rudy rode with Nick Relampagos and you couldn't wipe the smile off his face with 80 grit!

LOL --- of all the things I DIDN'T take a picture of. They're buried behind the seat back --- so you just forget about them.
Had to laugh when I did look at them --- the shop upholstered between them and on the ends -- you have no idea how they're mounted nor do you see wires etc.
Here's the music to me...... LOL

Some guys are "shutterbugs" -- some guys are just happy to see stuff thru their eyes.... I'm the latter. I just don't take many pics -- too damn busy just enjoying the stuff we see and the people....
In the car hobby I've always said there are two kinds --- Greasers and Waxers.... I'm a greaser. I could care less about shiny paint... I want my stuff bulletproof and drivable.
Here's a pic of a few us going to some greasy spoon somewhere in god knows where.... most days I had no idea what state I was in let alone what city. I love the diversity of cars on these tours.
If you're on Faceybook --- from Left to Right -- Alan Pound - me - Jesse James (I built my '33 after seeing Jesse's) - Rod Parsons - Alan Miller (car will be for sale soon and it's bad ass and dead nuts reliable - all SpeedTech and quick autocrosser)

I'm a greaser too, that's why my car is going to be wrapped and not in paint jail for years and still not correct :bang:
Yeah both my sister and nephew had smiles bigger than their face after their rides, I was glad to be a part of it! They have a better appreciation for my car addiction and some of the guys' (let's just call them ... personalities) :thankyou:

Jesse has about 65,000 miles on that car now, he's a machine.
KWhizz stopped in this morning and I talked to Chris and Lynda over the weekend........I am so happy for you that the truck is everything it was supposed to be and more. Keep rolling that odometer over.
Interesting side note. I was cruising CHRAs website a couple of weeks back and noticed a familiar face in the crew. Mathew Harris is responsible for me making my career in this field. He wrote a letter to Hot Rod Magazine in 1997(I think?) about his time at Wyo Tech.....I signed up the next week. When I got to the street rod program, he was my instructor and I learned so much from him. I don't know if he worked on your truck and I haven't seen him in a long time, I hope he is well.

Jesse is just one fun human being --- I love him! We have so much fun dishing crap. I wish I saw him and John more often. Well hell -- there's a LOT of people I wished I saw more often.... but when your friends are spread out all over the country and on a couple continents -- you have to be content to just enjoy when you're together.
I don't know Mathew by name but may recognize his face..... I know there were a lot of "all hands on deck" to get this done in the time they had. This was by far the most trouble free and most enjoyable build I've had done. While I'd prefer to build 'em myself - those days are over for me.

No — I stretched the chassis not the cab - cab and bed are stock dimensions.... and yes - these are tight little cabs. I’m still shaking my head thinking about my BIL Rudy driving - and we didn’t change seat positions between us... Rudy is 6’3” ish.... I’m 4’ 3” or less....

Where would you put a stretch be in one of these trucks...lengthen the doors or add room behind the seats?

Well damn you!! I don’t care how “busy” I am — you come tap me on the shoulder!! I looked for you every time I walked past the car - but never saw you so thought that perphaps you weren’t here! When we lined up for the awards thing — I walked over to see who was driving your car to see if it was you — but it looked like someone else so I thought — Well.... I guess DSE or someone is here represent it.
Dang I would have loved spending some time having you show me all the cool stuff with yours!

It’s so funny about the damn gray! It’s like the #1 compliment and question.... “love it! What color is it?” I tell them it’s “Square D Gray”
LOL
We’ll get together somewhere else Stuart.... if I can - I plan to drag/drive the little POS to a few GG shows this coming season.... not for award gathering - but just because it’s fun to use the shows as an excuse to go somewhere. There’s still places I haven’t been in this ol’ world... and Gwen said she’s game to go hit some spots with it. DelMar would be one —- and I’ve never been to Columbus — and I’d like to do Pleasanton — and Seattle (Puyallup) etc. We also need to get the heck out of here in the summer — so Victoria would be a good place to hit too!

Dave is a first class guy. I’ve seen episodes where - if you didn’t know him — he may come off a little cocky - but he truly is not. As Mike said - he’s funny and very quick witted! You’d better be on your game if you want to fling a little you know what with him.

The ‘40 has been getting much “love” — a full feature in the GoodGuys Gazette — and cover and full story in the latest issue of Wheel Hub magazine - and a PPG paint Ad..... so far, two Top 10 picks — and today a Gary’s Pick at GoodGuys Scottsdale.
Gary Meadors was the founder of GoodGuys. Sadly he passed last year.... so the award is an honor to me. He was truly a GOOD GUY! It was his Yellow ‘32 Ford Tudor that I was asked to drive on the 2017 Hall of Fame Tour.... I had turned that offer down because CHRA (builder of the ‘40) had asked me to drive their 68 Corvette well beforehand - and I felt I needed to honor that commitment ...but that car had starter trouble and so they rolled the ‘32 out of the trailer. Marc Meadors was supposed to drive the ‘32 on the tour but had a last minute change of plans so the car was already at DSE. Lucky for me - they just put it in a trailer and were hauling it on the tour. I’m a hot rod guy.... so that kind of stuff means something to me. Just trying to put a little story behind the meaning of this award for me personally. Not trying to be a name dropper..... it was just lucky me is all.
Then today I win this. Makes it a little “more special”.
The award......

Wasn’t sure how to really tell the story except to just tell it the way it went down.... Sometimes you get lucky just being in the right place at the right time. I like to connect the dots and close the circle... especially on the internet. So many people don’t know all the little details that make everything gel.

Love the truck. Congrats
Thanks Stuart!!
Showed it this weekend — drove it 200 mile round trip today - the more I drive it (6,000 miles now) the more I love it! A car/truck has to DRIVE right for me to like them — and this truck just drives right. Changing out to the Penske shocks and different spring rates after the tour really made a huge difference — but it’s got to be a total package — sound - steering - comfort - ride - no rattles - no cow shake - no anything — just solid and smooth.... a lot of folks can’t get that all right in a hot rod. CHRA nailed it.

It always shocks me when someone posts “oh I saw you but you were busy and I didn’t want to bother you”! REALLY come on folks it’s a car show — the ONLY reason I go to them is to see my friends OR make new ones!!

If I ever meet you at a car show Greg, I'm gonna do one of two things. Either ask for a ride in said vehicle that's there or ask for the keys to drive it myself. Then I'll say...hey, we're friends....remember?!

THIS is exactly the attitude I feel everyone at car show should have. I tell friends of mine I simply won't drive my custom stuff or attend a car event if I'm not feeling social.

I’ve always shared my good fortune with my friends — I’ve let my friends drive my race cars — I let friends drive my hot rods — Rudy drove my Nomad for 2 years while we worked on his Camaro.....
So in other words... I’d probably toss ya the keys.

That would be because it’s quite common these days to have a track with lots to build on.... and shop spaces etc. They’re building 2 new tracks right here in Phoenix.

Track-Condos. They are doing a private build up near Lime Rock where you can get an "introductory" buy in for a really "good" deal. The units are beautiful and they are on the property with all kinds of amenities. Starting at 1.7m and up. Looks the ultimate boys club..

That badass tool box, with the picture of YOUR hot rod is the bestest prize ever. Only thing is, you'll need to fill it with about $20-30k worth of Snap-On "jewelry". After all, you can't put any old/ beat up tools in that box!
Let us know if you need a Go Fund Me page to fill it.

Clear bra for paint protection - don’t forget where the tires are “wider than the body” areas — that will look sandblasted after a few 1000 miles.....
I used to do a lot of NCRS stuff - but I’d DRIVE to them.... if I was really going after the big points — then I’d have the driver seat reupholstered.... and usually get the top re-stretched or replaced.... a little paint touch up work (I had multiple guns and can/did this work myself).... a thorough detailing if I wanted it to look pristine....
In other words — there is a COST associated with putting miles on them..... and being anal..... but you don’t care one iota about all that when you’re out there cruising the crap out of ‘em.
My old saying in Seattle —- “that’s what winters are for”.... the rehab for the next driving season!
To me — it’s like cleaning guns and buying lots of ammo.... it’s the price you pay for actually doing with them what they’re made for.

Ha! I live outside of Buffalo... I know all about winters.
I did most of the restoration on my car, including the paint. But now I want to have it done for me if I decide to go for it.
Here she is at another car show. Yeah, I made a bunch of friends and won a bunch of plaques, but after seeing your project, Charlie’s Riv. and other builds on this site, I’d love to drop in a DelS3 style LS into it along with modern A/C and enjoy it more.

One guy (Gene) has been o every single tour. Small block chevy ‘69 Camaro. Drives from California to the start of each tour Does the tour. And drives home. They gave him a bad ass tour jacket at the end of the last one. Think he said he’s done 33,000 miles just on these tours.
In other words. You don’t need an LS Motor. A/C is another thing altogether. It is September when we do these and depending on where we start you might not need it.

Well. This is particularly true if you’ve done business with Ron Sutton and got sauced in the process.

Back to Customs and Hot Rods of Andice (CHRA) for freshening before Columbus and other GoodGuys Shows this summer....
Tough to drive a “show car” - which is why I don’t attend many shows.... I’d prefer to just drive and let the bugs squish where they squish —— but it should look the part if I’m going to put it out there.... and all the trucks that I’m up against for Early Truck of the Year are trailer queens....

A couple of the Pantera guys that have really really
nice cars (one was driven 30,000 miles one year) just
have them repainted on the front side from the fronts
of the doors and around to the other side.. they do this
like every other year
Glad to see you are really enjoying this truck as it
really came out nice

A tearful day with the passing of Greg Weld. But he would not want us to be sad. He lives on in our memories and we will be telling Greg Weld stories for many years to come. He did more for our hobby than most people realize. I hope his words here last forever so we can look back and enjoy them. We will miss you Greg!

Adrienne and the truck are on the main strip in between Griots Garage and Edelbrock today and will be in the Builders Choice area tomorrow. She has a family function today and won’t be around after about three but the truck will be there all day. If you’re at the show come by and say hi, check out the truck and share some stories.

I saw Alex and Adrienne at GG Ft Worth today and was able to score one. Alex mentioned something about having more made. They had some pretty cool shorts made up for the road tour as well. Maybe she will make some more that can benefit the fund raiser and hopefully make the goal of 40k.

I'd like to purchase a sticker as well. So incredibly sorry to hear of the passing of probably the greatest member of this forum. The things he taught us and his willingness to share his life experiences with us is unparalleled. He will be sorely missed, and while I am still making progress on my Camaro, I wish I could have gotten it done and posted pics on here for him to see before he passed. He was a true inspiration to my life and not only in the fabrication aspect. The things I learned from his Investing 102 thread literally changed the course of my life and hopefully someday in the future I can do the same thing for others. Greg Weld is a true legend within the car community.

Agreed!
My wife, my daughter and I went to the celebration of life for Greg Weld on Friday night. It was nice to see Adrienne Weld , Alex and Gwen. They have a beautiful house...and there were a lot of folks there to share their stories and memories of Greg. It was good to see Charley Lillard as well! Greg's awesome truck was out front...just back from SEMA...and most recently GoodGuys in Scottsdale...as Adrienne has been taking it to a lot of events to honor her dad. Adrienne cooked some awesome food and everyone was talking about how they knew Greg.:grouphug:
Enjoy the few cell phone pics that we took....
The first three pics are of the bitchin truck, then two Camaros...and a larger version of the sticker the Welds had available for everyone that had signatures of folks you might recognize!
The backyard pic was of balloons that spelled out Greg's mantra "No Bad Days" and the last pic shows one of the stickers.

They’re all doing pretty well considering. The 40 is still in the family and tucked away safe in AZ. Both kids are in the Seattle area (back home) and getting settled in to life with only memories of their father. Gwen is out and about traveling with the dogs and touching base with all of her friends, couch surfing really, lol. I had dinner with the family last night at a dive pizza joint they all grew up going to, nothing but smiles and good conversation with them all.
Like most that were close to him, it’s a mix of tears and smiles from day to day. For me, I shake my fist in the air at least once a week cursing Greg for one thing or another....I sure miss the lil asswipe.
