Well, looks like Dave got a bunch of work done this week.
There is a lot more room in the new dash housing then we thought.
I've got a bunch of playing with the dash to get it to look just like I want it but I like this one the most so far.
http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/p-bcab/2006_05_18_001.jpg
Side view doesn't look to busy does it.
I can't wait to send the dash to Tom at Hydro Illusions
(( www.hydroillusions.com )) to have him make it look like carbon fiber.
Did you notice the notch in the floor for the exhaust.
http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/p-bcab/2006_05_18_002.jpg
Now that we have the steering column back in.
Dave was able to complete the D-Side downpipe.
It has the same feel / flow as the P-Side.
http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/exhaust/2006_05_18_003.jpg
Just a quick shot of the downpipe and Mike Lee's Headers (( www.raceprovenmotors.com ))
Mike does some really nice work if your looking for a really good guy.

It looks like the Master's are far away from the heat but we may make a heat shield just in case.
Did I mention that these are going to be swapped out for Billet one's?
http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/exhaust/2006_05_18_008.jpg
The exhaust is joined again for the last time on both sides.
Dave still has to run the wastegate dumps back into the downpipes.
http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/exhaust/2006_05_18_017.jpg
In order to gain the needed clearance around the intercooler
Dave reworked the lower portion of the core support.
http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/sogt0334cooling/2006_05_18_011.jpg
Trying to keep the same theme in the build. We did dual Rails similar to the back half.

Thank you. We thought about moving the tach to the center. but all of the other gauages are single sweep and the 4 in 1 has 4 dials. We weren't sure if it would look right with the 4 in 1 off to one side.

Good Morning All,
Meet with Bob Thrash today and talked about finishing the Rendering of the Interior.
I hope to have some new drawings in two weeks. He's busy painting graphics on the Cuda

Okay back to the regularly scheduled update
Here is the Final layout for the Dash.
I am flying down to Florida to meet with Doc at www.docskustom.com they are going to make me a billet panel to mount the gauges in. Those guy's down there have been a great help and i really look forward to working with them.

Here's the start of new Mount for the Front Support. We want to make the front cover easy to remove.

It will be slip shaft mounted so i can remove it when i need to get it on a trailer.

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/exhaust/2006_05_26_071.jpg

Worked on the front bumper cover this weekend.
Had to modify the mounting tabs to work with a stock steel support.
Step one - Make sure you are wearing the proper safety glasses
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_07_02_007.jpg
Step two - Carefully remove all of the mounting tabs
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_07_02_004.jpg
Step Three - Take them to the grinder and reduce there size.
A long sleeve shirt may have prevented my forearms from itching so darn bad.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_07_02_008.jpg
Step Four - Glass all the tabs back on.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_07_02_011.jpg
Step Five - Drill the new holes
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_07_04_006.jpg
syborg tt
07-05-2006, 12:25 PM
Step Six - Run to local Sears and buy Stainless Steel bolts (did i mention i lost the original bolts)
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_07_04_008.jpg
In the end it's mounted and it only took about 4 hours if you include the trip to Sears Hardware and the trips to the slop sink to wash my arms because they itched so badly.

Happy Sunday,

He was able to get both front and rear bumpers mounted.
He came up with a pretty cool way to mount the bumpers and make adjust much easier.
Here is the mount for the front cover

Good Morning All,
There is going to be two updates this week as i plan to work all day Saturday on the truck
Wanted to do something different for a steering Stop.
Dave came up with a pretty cool idea don't ya think.

Just some Quick Picks of the Intercooler Piping

All the Hose, V-Bands and Connections were supplied by Jim at:

He makes some really nice stuff and it's not the cheap stuff you find on Ebay.

Happy Saturday Night,
What started out as a very productive day didn't end so well.
Just remember Listen to the Voices in your Head they are there for a Reason!
Yep, found a Lower Radiator Hose that actual works.
It's hard to believe it actual follows the curves of the Frame.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_08_19_001.jpg
Installed the new Fiberglass Cladding.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_08_19_002.jpg
If you are thinking about adding really cool ground effects to your s10.
You need to contact Scott @ www.syclone-typhoon.com
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_08_19_004.jpg
Yep missing the last piece of cladding this is where my day ended.
Seems I felt the necessary urge to run a 1/4" drill bit 1" deep into the pad of my left Hand.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_08_19_005.jpg
So my day ended early with a trip to the emergency room to make sure I
didn't have any metal in my hand and a tetanus shot just in case.
More to come later in the week once I can use my hand again.
And remember when the little voice tells you that you should move your hand - Listen!

I think you should stay away from cutting around the turbos.
Keep the inner fenders under the turbos awith some clearance.
That way the inner fenders won't get so hot and it will give you clearence to work on the engine if you need to and it lets you see more of the engine.
Just my .02 cents
Long week and even a Longer Weekend.
Hung out at the waterpark with the kids and swallowed more chlorine then I want to admit.
Last week Robert from the Pro-Touring Forum made a suggestion.
So I took his advice and built yet another set of inner fenders.
He was right it cleaned up the engine bay and will make life much easier if I ever have to work on this thing.

Good Day All,
I headed over to VFN Fiberglass on Saturday to look at the Mold that they made for the Rockers.
www.vfnfiberglass.com
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_09_16_001.jpg
We added a 1/4" to each side of the Rocker so they would actually be long enough.
From the Factory they were about a 1/2" shy and since we are making everything else so nice we might as well fix this.

As nasty as that Buick must be hanging the front tires on the track, how sick would it be hammered down on a set of 19" H.R.E.s with some big huge brakes and the underpinnings to drive it in anger around some corners. Just keep it off full boost in the apexes!

Good Morning All,
Dave and I came up with an idea of a Removable Tie Down.
We wanted something that could be removed during a show or while driving on the street.
Once the frame is painted you won't even notice it.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_09_28_001.jpg
Dave began working on the air inlet ducts.
We plan to draw air in from the factory driving lights.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_09_28_003.jpg
We going to extend the wheel well to complete the inner fender
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_09_28_010.jpg
Dave started working on the belly pan for the rear.
The strings gives you an idea of what the center will look at.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_09_28_011.jpg
Just a rear view
It actually looks like the center is lower then the end panels it's not - just an illusion

I have learned so much just by looking at other cars being built. This forum and a few otheres have inspired me to build the best that i can afford without my wife killing me. I've learned more about building cars then i thought was possible.
Thanks again

Quick Update.
I flew down to Ar-Kansas over the weekend to meet with Kenny & the guy's at Kenny Davis Hot Rods. I have a little medical problem which is going to delay the build. Seems the Doctors feel it's important for them to remove the tumor in my neck something about cancer. Which means this is going to delay the truck by 4 weeks which puts it ready for paint in Late December. This is about the time the Riddler car will be ready for paint and bodywork at Troy's. So my truck would be delayed by at least two months waiting to get into Rad Rides body shop. So I needed to find a painter that is comprable in my eye's. Thus the reason I choose Kenny, I feel like this is going to be a very good Match.
The main reason I don't want to delay the truck by another 2 months is i want to make sure it's ready for Hvaoc in 07 and i actually make it to Sema in 07.
3 weeks from today i'll be in surgery and the bad news is i won't be able to talk for 3 day's - EAK !! and if you know me this is going to be very hard for me. My wife told me she is looking forward to the peace and quiet.
Take care of you first Marty! The Truck comes later. Good luck and I wish you a speedy recovery.
Good luck, Marty. Hope all goes well and you have a speedy recovery.

Good Morning,
Dave worked on the Dash this week. It's starting to look like a dash again.
First - mounted behind the dash is the Highway 22 Fuse Box.

You can see the Vent mounted on the Passenger Side of the truck.
We are still going to install one more vent for the Passenger highlighted in black.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_10_21_005e.jpg
Here is a close up of the Drivers Side.
All of the switches have been reverse mounted. The goal is to keep the dash ultra smooth.

I'm my absence Dave was kind enough to order all of the stainless steel fitting for the brakes.
All $600.00 of them I hope this includes the brake lines.

Kevin (who's Kevin) retapped the Masters so we could use these fitting on the them.

LOL - yep that dare to be different crowd came over me. Wow was that an expensive choice.
It's actually a Old Bush Series engine except everything is brand new. Yep v6 parts are usally double the cost of v8 parts. My billet crank cost $3000.00 the rods and pistons were just as expensive. Thank God Rockford Racecraft has helped along the way with Sponsorship (cost breaks) on the Parts for the inside of the engine. But I still think i'm near 20 grand for the Long block and intake.

12-16 Update - Inner Fenders Design
Okay I've been battling this in my mind for weeks if not months.
I wanted something different yet functional and I think we've got it.
This is the basic shape of the inner fender.
We should have plenty of clearance turning the wheel.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_12_16_004.jpg
Here is the Ariel View.
Don't forget there is a 3" Elbow that leads down to the turbo.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_12_16_011.jpg
The look from the core support.
We may need to scallop the inner fender just a little for the turbo.
It's hard to tell in the picture but the Turbo is 1.5" from the inner fender.

Merry Christmas to all,
It's been a long time coming and they are finally complete.
It's hard to believe that after making at least 15 different chipboard versions
we finally have Inner Fenders.
This gives you an idea how much of the Fenders structure needed to be removed to make room
for the tire when the truck is lowered.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_12_21_001.jpg
You can see how the inner fender is mounted to the firewall.
Mounting from the underside hides all the hardware in the engine bay.

Who cares if it is done by this power tour. You are taking your time and doing every little detail perfectly. I dont see power tours ending any time soon. When it is done, you can take it on power tour and know that everything is perfect and not rushed. I always wanted to build aV6 4.3 twin turbo for a corvair. I love that you are using this engine. Everything on your truck is custom formed so it takes time. When you are done you will most likely have the best and funnest S-10 the world has ever seen.

Happy Wednesday,
Okay I wanted to send this out yesterday but I just plumb ran out of time.
Carter Hickman is the man.
He did an incredible job on the 3-D rendering of my truck.
It has the actual wheels, Brakes, exhaust cut out & bed cover.

Good Morning All,
Okay I haven't had time to work on the truck the last two weeks.
Seems working on the Garage has taken precedence. It's very hard to be in the garage when it's 20 degrees.
I needed to build an attic so I could have a place to put the parts once I disassembled the truck.
So plans are to build an attic over the front half of my garage.

Sixteen twenty foot 2 x 8's, ten sheets of 1/2" plywood & twenty-one eight foot 2 x 6's later we have an attic.
Next time I plan to get some friends to help. Those 20 foot 2 x 8's are brutal to lift by your self.

Eight more Ten foot 2 x 6's for the vaulted ceiling (need the height for the lift).
Did I mention I hate ladders let alone working at 12 feet in the air?

Now it's time for the itchy stuff.

Okay the back half of the garage is Insulated.
Now I need to put up a temporary wall and insulate the new attic floor.
I almost forgot -- I really need to clean up this mess.
