Default What are needed mods to fit 9,5" at front on 1gen ?

I know at 9,5" wide fronts can be used with stock sub but what needs to done to get decent turning angle ? Is there any other broblems i might get?

I really want to go with stock sub with DSE3 components and BRP front steer r&p. But am i just looking for trouble?

Check CarlC's site http://www.geocities.com/casanoc/
He's got a nasty 68, running 275's all around with a stock sub. His site tells how, it wasn't easy.

I was reading Carl C's site. Maybe I missed something, but it seemed pretty easy. You would need shorter steering arms, tubular control arms, play around with some steering stops and add some suspension limiters for the rebound issue (like straps used in 4x4 applications??)
Seems pretty easy, but again, maybe I'm missing something.

I think it can be done with stock arms without too many problems but some trial and error is needed. The steering arms are becoming the hardest part since the short versions are getting hard to find. The reduction in turning radius, for me, is a non-issue. The car will make a 3-point turn on a narrow street with no problem and turn into parking lot spots easily.

The increase in cornering power was well worth the effort and any tradeoffs.

Carl, when you say steering arms, are you talking about the pitman arm?

Nope. The steering arms bolt to the spindle and attach to the outer tie rod.

I like that upgrade for improved braking on the street, too. Great site also!
