Default Storage in NYC area?

I got an offer to work for Goldman Sachs in NYC this summer, and I am also hoping to get an offer from UBS to work in Stamford CT. So it seems that I will be in the general NYC area. At the same time my family is selling our house in northern CT, so I am going to be losing my garage spot. But regardless its a 2-3 hour drive home and I would not get to use the car that much this summer.

Anyway, does anyone know of places or prices of storage in the southern CT, NYC general area? I am a college kid that is going to have enough trouble paying rent in NYC, so I can't pay too much, but I would like to have the car closer to me for the summer. Besides...then I can actually be around for the Long Island gatherings on weekends!

Thanks

Tim

Tim,

Brad here-we met at Marcus Dairy-I had the 65 GTO.

Congrats on the great job offers.

There is a place in Stamford that stores cars-cannot remeber the names also one in Bedford Hills, NY-both my guess would be $ 3-400 per month.

I will keep my eyes and ears open as I am pretty local. I will also look in local papers. Also maybe if you know somebody with an enclosed trailer they can store it in there while not in use.

If I ever get a lift I may be able to help you out --what are we guessing June to Sept dates ?

Brad

I wish we had room in our "toy shop" Tim. If the east end of Long Island is an option contact Enstien's Mobil in Southampton.

There is also a place in Scarsdale, NY that is across street from train station that stors cars, but from what I remember they may have limited weekend hours.

Brad- thanks for the info. I have to make a decision about where I am going to be within the next two weeks. If I am in stamford I might have a daily driver car for work, and then storage places can basicaly be anywhere in the area I can drive to. If I am in NYC I wont have a car, so it would need to be someplace I can get to on public trans. So I could come out on weekends and take the car out without a huge hassle.

Thanks for the advice. I will do some research into it as well!

The place you want to check out is Collectors Car Garage in Katonah NY. It's right off i-684. They have climate controlled storage, three floors of space for cars, a wash bay on each floor, a detailer who comes in when you want and a clubhouse area. Some very rare and serious cars are kept there.

They also have a 70+ person waiting list.
But they are adding more space in a big way, just don't know the timing.

I used to keep a number of cars there.

Ask for James.

You will be down in our neck of the woods so you should stop by and check out our place in Irvington. We are maybe 40 minutes from Stamford.

I keep my Rambler at Classic Car Storage and Club (Erector Square). It cost $150 a month and really is a steal for what they provide. 315 Peck St New Haven CT. You would be lucky to get an outdoor spot in the NY area for that much.

It is entire warehouse devoted to car storage. It is super clean and they have a club house and locker area. You share a gated spot with someone if you only have one car but there is so much room between cars there is zero worry. It is heated to a reasonable level. You also have access at any time to your car as you are given a key to open garage door at any time you please. It is also alarmed. The spots are located on either side of a center lane so nothing is ever in your way. I usually pull my car in spot after I take car out for warm up run. You will be impressed with set up and the owner keeps his own cars in there also. No work allowed besides a battery charge and clean up.

I never remember the womans name but their number is (203) 865 5055 Do not get thrown off if they are a bit hard to get ahold of it is just they are building up the entire block or two and are busy. Tell them Brian with the green Rambler sent you.

I think you read their info wrong...
They charge $350 or $400 per month depending upon what package you sign on for.
