I noticed that the cars were being taken off the stage as the bidding was still going on, I didn't know about the three minute rule but I thought it was wierd. I didn't think of the "time is money" aspect.

I didn't time any of the breaks and didn't know of the 3 min rule...but with this in mind now it seams a little weird that many times when they returned from a short 2 min or so break they had just sold a car we never even saw hit or leave the block... Perhaps some people did get a little screwed out of their time??

yeah, lawsuits BY BJ against the guy who wrote the story. There isn't a single thing he could prove, and he withdrew the story already.

Jody is correct, the author of the story is in deep doo doo. Bill has the entire blog on Musclerides, including statements from a lot of heavyweights in the industry including the officail rebutal from Steve Davis, Prersident of BJ. This guy is fricken baked!!!

I got to watch a little the other day of the 06 auction and it is amazing how much money influneces this circus It was all about TV time he was more worries about how fast they got acroos and where the tv commercial would fall than about everones cars pretty sad, but i guess when your hooked up with all the majors and commercial part of it thats alot of people and people with money to make happy would not want that job.

I have never been to a Barrett Jackson auction, and do not know whether they participate in running bids (brother bidding). However, I have been to many classic auto auctions where the same guys are bidding at one auction on the same cars, and the next auction, low and behold the same guys are at that auction bidding again. They do bid and run each others cars up.

Brother bidding happens, and happens a lot. I have been around auctioneering companies and have worked many auctions. There are fake bidders running bids on a majority of auctions to make sure a product brings X amount of dollars. It wouldn't surprise me to see this happening at BJ as well.

BJ pushes their cars well and market their stuff well, it is going to bring a premium regardless.
