Default Bill Mitchell motors vs Scott Shafiroff motors?

Any experience with either builder?

Used half a dozen Mitchell motors with no issues. Also, I can get some special things tricks done. Were doing a all aluminum 540 right now with a hydraulic roller, waiting on dyno results as we speak.

A local friend of mine had Shafiroff build him a 555. He told me how good they were to work with and he has showed me all the documentation they provided. Very impressive.

Before I had NRE build my motor, I had talked to Bill Mitchell about their crate 427SBC and they wouldn't change ANYTHING on the motor. I asked about having them set it up with a different distributor and they had all sorts of excuses why they couldn't do it. Maybe that has changed, but at the time, they were VERY inflexible.

the bill mitchell was a pump gas motor w/world heads on it. IT was in the car in kennys avatar. it started every time didn'tget hot cruising the fair grounds and would idle without loading up.

The shafiroff was a monster 1050 N/A on 118 never dynoed on alcohol but it was scary fast.
