Default Aluminum vs. Iron BBC for the street

Looking for information or feedback on advangages / disadvantages of aluminum versus iron block BBC for street use. What is the weight differential on a stock iron SBC vs an aluminum BBC. Anyone have links to to info or discussion on these topics?

A complete all aluminum big block is barely north of 400 LBS. I do not know the weight of iron small blocks, but I believe it is about the same. No problem with the aluminum block on the street. They run cooler and weigh less.

I agree, if you can justify the extra $4000 or so to save 100 lbs. off the nose of your car, they are the ultimate. I want one in the worst way. No disadvantages on the street that I know of. Just the big price tag.

no disadvantage.. and BBC's still outperform most every engine out there when built right.. head flow is easily in the 400 range with streetable heads, my dream engine is a 499 or 522 all aluminum big block chevy with a crower ultralight rotating assembly, profiler heads and a kinsler injection.. but my bank doesnt feel me on this...
