Default Motion Supercars

So I was doing a little reading about the Motion SuperSpeedster and I came across this little tidbit:

Quote:
Credit for coachbuilding the SuperSpeedster goes to Phil Somers and his metalcrafters at American Super Car Inc, Hudson, FL, a supplier to Baldwin-Motion. Phil also built the Camaro SuperCoupe, winner of the GM Design Award at SEMA 2005.
How can people make claims like that? Everyone knows that Time Machines in Hudson Florida built the SuperCoupe. Seems a bit misleading to me.

Also states that Horton designed the speedster. Is that Kris Horton. I thought Kris did the rendering for Jim Hall and HIS speedster. It sure resembles Jim's. http://officialbaldwinmotion.com/ss_build.htm

I wasn't saying who copied who, I was noting that someone else, other than Time Machines, claimed to have built the SuperCoupe.

Sounds like "somebody" trying to take undue credit for Time Machines' time, talent, and labor.
I'm sure Mike appreciates you pointing out the omission, Scott!

Default americansupercarinc

My name is Phil Somers I am the owner of American Super Car inc The claim you speek of can be made because it is true.I did build both the super coupe and the super speedster. For 9 years I ran Time Machines as its manager/designer builder.I designed ,built or oversaw everthing built prior to April 5 2006 at which time I left to persue my own business, on May 5 2006 I opened American Super Car inc and started the Super Speedster, we are now the exclusive builders of all of the Motion cars
You can see the build story on my website or go to www.officialbaldwinmotion.com

Thank You
Phil Somers

I guess it's all semantics. You cannot claim that American Super Car Inc built the coupe; that business did not exist when that car was built. The car was built by yourself and others at Time Machines, so it seems they should get that credit anyway.

You could say that you headed up the build and design while an employee of Time Machines, but it doesn't seem fair that your new company can claim to have done the coupe build when it was not formed at the time of the build.

Default Time Machines Inc. Response

The claim that is being made that Phil Somers built the SuperCoupe is just not totally accurate, some of what Phil Somers states is true. Yes, Phil Somers was the manager of Time Machines during our build of Motion SuperCoupe. Yes, he did work on the car but so did a lot of other employees. It was a total team effort. It would have to be because that car was built in a very short period of time.

He did not manage my shop for nine years as he states it was about 5 and 1/2 years. I would never call him the Time Machines designer as he states. Again, giving himself too much credit at my team's expense. We do not have a single designer at Time Machines but a team of quality individuals who help share their ideas which each build but let me be very clear that the final design of any car has to be approved by myself as owner of Time Machines. We, as the team of Time Machines, are just tired of Phil trying to take too much credit for his time at my shop. Yes, he was a very valued employee for nine years but he decided to leave on his own accord. That was his choice. There were 11 other people who spent much time building the Motion SuperCoupe. He did oversee the day to day operations during the build but the vast majority of the work on that car was performed by those other 11 members of the team that made up Time Machines at that time.

Thank you,
Mike Staveski
owner of Time Machines
