Default LSX in 67 nova

What is needed to fit such an engine in my 1967 Nova sedan. And can you use an TH400 on this type of motor?

I was planning to put in an 350 sbc but after what i have read you guys recommend the LSX engine. At first i will go n/a but later i was planning on going for a twin turbo setup.

How much is needed to push an either 5,3 or 5,7 ls1 to 400 hp n/a?

im sure that 1 gen camaro lsx motormounts will work prefect.. with regards to what is needed to get 400 NA hp, the answer is almost nothing, a 225 deg cam, ls6 intake and a set of decent heads, dart or simmilar (they run 1300 assembled fro a pair) that will develop 450HP and idle like a showroom stock.

why would you want to run a th 400? an ls1 with transmission and accessorise costs less than 3000, and 3500 with a 6 speed...

i got a complete 65000 miles ls1 with 4speed auto and everything, starter, alt, fuelpump, fans, ac compressor, ps pump, wires, ecu, the works! for 2350 on ebay...

sell your th 400 and step into the new millenium

Thanks alot for the reply. I was thinking about the original transmission that comes with the motor but do not know if it is any good? Have not heard anything on the 4L60E transmission. Good or bad? But I had thought about the T56 that would be a really nice setup. But I do not know how much modification that is needed to the tunnel before there is enough room. Or what propshaft to run?

If you found yours at that price I guess I just need to look around for a while on ebay and find an LS1 with T56 gearbox. It is ice to hear that modifying the engine does not take more effort, to gain the 400-450hp.

the 4l60e is just electronic controlled th700 that comes with the ls1 engine, and it is a great transmission, in stock form it will take up to 400 hp, and they can be built to well over 600 Hp .. check www.bowtoeoverdrives.com they can do a 4l60e for you that will survive 600 hp for about 1500 bucks.. but change it when you break the other one...

i dont know if the t56 requires trimming of the transmission tunnel, but i think it should fit

the propshaft, just requires shortening...

where are you from btw?

Thanks once again for the reply. Okay 400hp will not last long. I think i will go for the T56 instead. That is rated for a bit more HP?

I am from Praestoe in denmark. It was just now that i actually noticed that you were from Copenhagen.

I might have been a bit fast on the trigger and throw away the 4L60E. You said this was an good transmission? Is it possible to get shift kits etc for this transmission. You say it is an electronic controlled transmission? Is the shift then controlled by electronics? Then you should be able to do paddle shift on this transmission for example?

If i bought a motor with standard transmission and upgraded the motor to say 450 hp what should i do to the transmission? Which parts should be replaced?

I better reply in english.

I think i will look on ebay i have connections in order to get it to Denmark. I am just looking for info on what combination will be the best for me. Sp just gathering information.

I have a 1967 nova sedan with minitub and narrowed 9" on the way home but without engine and trans. I think i will look for an ls1 with auto trans it seems like they are a lot cheaper than t56 then i can always upgrade if i want to later on.
