Default Priming/Painting e-coat panels

I just finished installing new floors and trunk pan in my 67, I removed the ecoat where I welded, but is it necessary to remove it from the whole panel before priming it?

Check with a PPG rep., I can't remember the product designation off hand but they have a very good sealer in their Global line for adhering to the e-coat.

I have been bit by that e-crap more than once. To many times had paint or primer flake or not adhere and go to bare metal and it was prepper properly, which means bad surface prep in the factory. I look at is what does some little chinese or taiwan guy got to lose if he doesn't remove all the oil used in the pressing process before sending it off to be coated. Its always been my way since last bad time, to completly strip the e-crap before an initial coat of epoxy primer.

Default e coat

thats why you lacquer thinner test all e coat, if lacquer does not take it off, scuff it or da it with 320 and go, if lacquer attacks it, start stripping
