Default Newbie with a question

Hey guys,

I am new to the forum, but not for the love of 69 Camaros. I have wanted one ever since I saw that movie, Better Off Dead. I did own a 99 Nissan Maxima, which I needed something reliable since I was doing a lot of commuting to work and it was flooded with Hurricane Katrina last year. I had insurance, so I got almost $10K, which is more than what I could have sold it for and bought an 05 Infiniti G35 Sedan. Now I got the pro touring fever and want to buy one.

Here is my question. Can I buy a decent one, similiar to this one linked below, for $35 to $40K. I paid $30K for my infiniti, but I can't see spending more than $40K for one since I am on a budget and would be using selling my infiniti and buying a truck to drive mostly. I only drive 10 miles a day if that, so commuting isn't a problem any more. Does anyone have a pro touring car as there only auto or just as a toy? I am guessing the later.

Thanks,

Matt

Welcome to the Board Matt! You will certainly learn alot here.

For the record and not to be a smart ass the "Better off Dead" Camaro is a 67 and was recently restored.

Anyway, back to your question. I'll chime in here as a non-expert, if I understand your question correctly, your asking if you can buy a nice driver local show quality 69 Camaro Coupe (not vert) for around 35k, yes?

I say absolutely! That is a very realistic price. Now I'm not talking numbers matching RS/SS or anything with a pedigree, you get the picture, but a solid clean driver that you would be proud to take to the Walmart cruise night.

I actually think $22.5 - $30 would get you there if your patient and don't mind scouting cross country. You may even be able to pick up a vert for $40k

Dig around here and ask questions, also check out www.camaros.net They have been very helpful to me.

As to your other question, I believe some on this board do drive their projects or pt cars daily, I think Camaroboy69 does, just not sure who else.

Remember when looking, always check the usual rust areas that Camaros are famous for and don't be afraid to ask for help when looking at a car. I find it's a good idea to bring a friend, who doesn't have to be a musclecar guru, just a sober opinion since you'll be falling in love with all these cars you go look at.

Good luck with your search and let me know if you need some links to muscle classifieds, I have a few good ones that I found during my search.

Rob

thanks Rob. I am catching a lot of grief from family members. I just got the G35 in December, but I have always bought cars and then sold them. Guess I have a short attention span. Anyways, my plan was to sell the G for $27000 and buy a used 96-97 Toyota 4 Runner to have as a daily driver and then look for a pt 69 camaro as well. I could probably get a 4 runner for $7, so that would leave me with $20K and I have $40K in the bank. This is for me to invest, but why not part with a few k and buy a nice pt camaro. Any other websites would be helpful. I have searched on ebay, pro-touring already and only found one in my price range.

thanks again,

Matt

Sounds like you have it all planned out. Now the older, non-hellraising, suit and tie Rob would tell you to invest but screw it, I beg borrow and steal to finance my addiction so I'm not one to preach.

I wouldn't go as far as saying you couls get a PT Camaro for 30k but a nice Camaro yes, you start adding in 4 wheel discs, 18" wheels, lsx motors and fuel inj, cha ching!

Pm me your email add and I'll send you my folder of websites...

Like I said, I would be willing to go to $40K to get a pt 69 camaro, but obviously, the cheaper the better. The one on the link above is going for $35K, which I think is a good price, but I don't know crap when it comes to these cars.
