Default Safe Muffler Distance from Gas Tank?

Considering running mufflers close to the fuel tank on a custom chassis 67 Camaro build. What would be a safe distance? Same as the exhaust pipe? Thanks for the help in advance.

If heat is a concern, you are probably going to want to keep your mufflers a minimum of 3-4" away from the tank. Ceramic coating your mufflers will drastically reduce the amount of heat transferred and applying heat reflecting material to the tank itself may also be an option to consider.
