Default Anyone ever use a tko600 extreme trans before?

Hi guys. I'm looking at getting a tko600 extreme transmission for my vette project since the t56 magnum will require a bunch of floor mods. Was curious if anyone had experience with this trans and if it's worth the extra money. Looks like it's going to be about $1300 more than a stock tko600. Thx

Josh

Josh ----

I have a TKO 600 - five speed - I hate the transmission. I should have gone with a Tremec. The shifter is notchy - the tranny is noisy - I'm not impressed one bit. It's like it's built for an old farm truck. Compared to the Snick Snick of the Tremec.

Greg, thank you for your comment! I really appreciate it. When you say "wish I went with a tremec" do you mean the tremec t56 or the tremec tko600? I went to tremec website and saw the made both. Have you ever heard of the tko600 extreme? American power train makes it and they told me its basically a t56 magnum in a tko body minus the 6th gear. I really don't have any experience with motors and transmissions so trying to do my research. Thx

The T56 Magnums shifts incredibly nice.... the TKO600 was designed many a moons ago and isn't even in the same ballpark.

Of note- I'm pushing 1400hp thru a stock T56 Magnum in my 88mm turbo LS9 RX-7 1/2 mile car. It shifts easily at 7800rpm....

There is a guy running one behind a 2JZ in a Supra shifting at 10K RPM making 1500rwhp+.... full race quad Tilton small diameter clutch.
