Sweet ride and glad to see Ford stepping up their game. I wonder how it compares against the Z28?

Jay,

No head-to-head testing published yet that I know of, but here are reports of lap times at 'The Ring' for both cars.

Why do Americans care about a track that's 10,000 miles from here? It's not like any of us can access that track with our cars. We should be testing those cars at Laguna or Watkins Glen or any of the other bad ass tracks we have on our terra. That would mean something to me. Sorry for the rant.

I'd still buy the Z. Gt350 looks like a shoe.

I'm sure road and track will get Randy Probst to drive both at Laguna like they normally do. That is their go to test track.

To answer the other question. The car is a couple hundred lbs lighter than the Z28 and has the same size wheel and tire. I'd put my money on the gt350 over the gen5 Z28. What will prove to be interesting is when/if the gen6 gets a z28 right off the bat and what that'll weigh as well as power level...

It is one bad mutha.....Can't wait for my R.

From another site quoting Kerry Baldori, Chief Functional Engineering, Global Performance Vehicles at Ford:

"We brought our GT350R and our GT350 Track Pack here at Grattan to do fair, back to back same day and same driver comparisons. The GT350R with the Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires is equal to the 100th of a second as fast as the Porsche 911 GT3 and it is over a second quicker than the Z/28.

The base GT350 with Track Pack, which uses the Pilot Super Sport tire, is equal again, to within a 100th of a second to the Porsche Carerra and the Corvette C7 with the Z51 package."

Best video yet IMO

Are you getting an "r" or hoping to? I'd be happy with just the gt350 with the diff and trans cooler. I'd put different shocks on the car anyway so I don't need the mag ride.
