Road trip paint protection?

I am taking my Camaro to the Good Guys Des Moines show next weekend, about 500 miles round trip, and am concerned about road rash. Most of the lower sides have clear masking, but the louver areas ahead of the rear wheels have been getting stone chipped from my Rival S tires.
I know some guys use painters tape for temporary protection, but am wondering about maybe using the Duplicolor peel off paint instead. It would certainly blend better, and might look good enough to leave it on all weekend.
Have you got experience with this? Or any other method? The car is black, and the thought of blue tape is not exactly appealing.

Any thoughts and advice is greatly appreciated.

Peel off paint doesn't add much protection. Clear bra is tougher. Should be able to find an installer in your area.Check with a Porsche dealer.

They can also do colored vinyl.

I use 3M vinyl wrap in gloss black, its barely noticeable on a black car. I do it to my everyday truck as well (also black). I go from the bottom of the rocker up to a body line, car is about 6", on the truck its about a foot wide. The stuff is really forgiving, you can really screw it up and it will smooth out. Have fun in Des Moines!

Thanks guys.
I may try to find some scraps of gloss black wrap if I have time tomorrow.
If I can't, as I only need to protect a roughly 1 Sq Ft area on each side, I think I will use some 2" painter tape, and cover that with black duct tape. Sort of make a pad that should remove easily.
I don't want to pay for an installers time for masking the areas temporarily, (and I doubt I'd be able to get it done by Thursday AM).
The temporary mask that Randy spoke of has a bunch of negative reviews on various sites. It sounds risky.

Thanks Steve. Maybe next time, as I am leaving this morning. I'm going to try the painters tape/ duct tape combo for the drive down. I'm fairly certain it will peel off easily when I get there, and maybe hold up well enough for the return trip. If not, I can always apply it again for the trip back.
