Default Tire Sales

So, I have been purchasing tires from Sams Club recently, due to the price and extra service that they have. Looking at tires for my 2500 Chevy. Talked to them again about prices and they stat that they will not sell them to me because it is 7% over on tire size from stock. Any other places doing this? Really like buying from them, but they are loosing a sell from me.

Seems like I could sign a waiver or something. Hmmm

They will only install what mfr posts on the door sticker, orig equip replacement. Costco does this as well. We have not been able to get around it in out area, or up in NJ. I even asked if I brought all 4 wheels to them, but no go.

They tried to claim breaking performance issues and I told them that since I still have the original pads on there with 205000 miles I think my brakes are ok.

Liability, people blaming others, lawsuits etc.

Even BMW and others wont take trade ins unless mfg wheels are put back on.

A little off subject but still viable..I resell 20-30 golf carts a year...in 2012 some bean-counter decides that they are not going to install rear shocks on any Ezgo cart and still dont since....1000's of these out there without rear shocks now...and guess what my attorney friend said about me reselling these carts especially lifted ones......Yeah u can imagine.....yes they all leave with shocks!! And as a side note these carts all have the brackets for shocks...just looks to anybody looking at them like shocks were left off...thats the big factor in court of law..........jim

I would be willing to sign a waiver if they had one. I'm just wonderng if this will bleed over to all tire shops. A chevy 2500 4X4 looks really stupid with the 245 size tires on it. Not sure what Chevy was thinking on that one.

Maybe I need to start looking for a used tire machine and balancer for the garage.

Wink There IS a way around it of course, but it costs more...

Buy whatever tires you want, say from www.tirerack.com or whatever to only obtain the tires themselves - nothing out there that says what tire you can buy over the counter for what ever purpose. Obtain physical possession of them, then take your rims and tires to just about literally any place that can mount and balance them and be done. Call it a specialty offroad / special purpose vehicle or whatever (been there done that countless times). It relieves 'them' of any determination of actual use, blinding them to only the (simple) task at hand of "mount and balance".

Right?

Unfortunately they will never offer you a waiver for that.

I've purchased 285/75/16s for my 2002 2500HD several times from Sams. Not sure why I didn't this last time though, can't remember though. I ended up at Discount Tire across the street and they didn't have any trouble at all mounting them up for me.

BTW, I have about 210,000 miles on my factory brake pads as well on this truck...what is it with them anyway? `
