In order to use this trans on GM, you must purchase an aftermarket bellhousing that has the Ford bolt pattern (Ford Toploader type) for your GM block. They are readily available from Lakewood or Mcleod. You will still use a GM clutch and disc since it is a 26spline input, but use a Ford throwout bearing. I will throw in an alum driveshaft complete with forged yokes ($450), you will need to measure and shorten it if necessary.

That is all that is needed to do beside relocate the shifter plate on the top. I spoke to DarkHorse Performance (owner Fred)425-227-7778 and verified the info. If you need more info or pics, let me know.

Thanks,

Frank
That is correct Frank. I've used the Ford version twice behind Chevy's with the correct McLeod bellhousing.

Thanks Jody, I wonder why people put Ford trans in Chevys? Maybe because of people like me selling them at a good price?

I did because the Ford version was several hundred dollars cheaper than the one modded to fit the Chevy. I was going to run a scattershield anyway so the cost to get one to adapt the Ford pattern to the Chevy was a non-issue.

Not sure of the price difference anymore, but "in the day".
