Default New guy with a weird car

Hi I'm Alex!

I have a 57 Cadillac Coupe de Ville that I'm looking to gain knowledge on in the suspension side of the house. It's not going to be Pro Touring but I'd like to make it feel like a newer car instead of a barge in the ocean. If I can make it take a turn that'd be a victory for me. Right now The frame is about to be dropped and rust repair started. The plan right now is to modify the stock frame for strength and possible handling if I can get it to do that. I'm planning on twin turbocharging the rebuilt 365 Cadillac motor (why , because it's weird) and will be running a 4l80 behind it. I'd like it to look old school, be quiet, and go fast.

Prior to this I built a 1964 C10 that I did in a old school feel. Take a look on the 67-72 Chevy truck board if you'd like to see my build thread.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=348850

So I'm here for the knowledge and opinions of others that have done different styles of builds with cars. I hope to talk with you all soon!

Alex

Check out Apolo Ohno's 64 Caddy convertible.
http://www.kindigit.com/64_caddy.php

As I recall, it had a frame swap with an Art Morrison frame.
And one of the ways they made it handle was to build a set of wheels that look like white wall tires, but the white wall is part of the rim and the black part is a low profile tire.

Check out the photos of the wheel and tire in these photos.
That will help your caddy turn!!

Here's a couple of links to part of the video of the build at Kindig-it Designs on Hot Rod TV

Welcome to the forums.
Awesome Caddy, always loved the "torpedo" grill/ bumper, and even better that she's in black.

Welcome to the board! I'm a huge Caddy lover myself. I have a '62 Fleetwood 75 Series. I'm in the middle of installing an LQ4 and 4L80E as we speak.

But first and foremost, you have to check out this build thread. Bring some popcorn, it's a thing of beauty. Hands down one of my absolute favorite builds of all time: https://lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=34043

It's a 1957 Caddy Eldorado Brougham being built by a forum member.

Thanks guys! Time to get started figuring out this suspension set up.

Thanks Brewtal66. I've actually been following that thread for around a year now. I love the fab work that has been done and wish I could afford that frame, it's sic.
