GPS speedo retrofit to older speedo face?

Anyone done it? What speedometer did you use to get the parts from?

You can use any aftermarket electric speedo (or just the guts) and then drive it with a GPS unit from Classic Instruments or Autometer.

Why? It's added cost and complexity for zero gain in functionality.

What's wrong with the VSS from your T56?

Was thinking it might be easier than getting the mechanical speedo to work, & if I change gears/tires then have to recalibrate/reprogram. If its GPS, none of tthat is needed.

VVS, besides GPS doesn't always have a signal.

It's plug and play and calibration is a simple procedure.

VVS? What's that? You mean VSS?

I still have to do something witht he speedometer because now it is mechanically driven. And I don't want to do one of those hokey Abbot boxes, that takes the electronic signal & outputs it as mechanical to drive the speedo. I would rather convert mine to electronic. Need to find an electronic head that is compact that will work.

For just a few dollars more you can get the whole Dakota Digital Dash which is basically plug n play and gives you today's electronic gauges for everything while retaining that stockish look.

Have you seen the pictures of the new colors, black face, white numbers, and red needles... They look fantastic!

I have the VHX and they are nice. With the BIM module, all I had to do was run wires from the PCM for VSS, check eng light and oil pressure. Very easy to do!

My gps speedo never loses signal except maybe very briefly under wide overpasses and such. Certainly nothing bothersome.
