I have decided it's time to put the IROC up for sale. This decision isn't taken lightly as I have had this car for almost 20 years. I have poured countless hours and dollars turning it into what it is today. The reason I have decided to sell it is simple, it no longer gets used like it should and it really doesn't serve any purpose for my growing family.
The body/chassis currently has about 110K miles on it, while most of the powertrain has less than 15K miles since brand new, including the engine. The LS1 was installed as a factory crate motor with 0 miles, none of that junkyard pull-out stuff here. The T56 was also a crate trans with 0 miles when installed, as well as the Moser Ford 9" inch rear axle.
Here's a list of things that have been done to the car. The car was pretty much factory stock when I bought it in 1995. It was a 305TPI with a 700r4 with 64K miles on it. This car has been an ongoing project since then. It's taken a long time to get it to where it's at now. It's been through 4 different engines, 3 different transmissions and 3 different rear ends though the years.

Performance wise it makes 440hp/441tq to the rear wheels (dyno sheet provided to buyer). The car was tuned by TJ at Baker’s Engineering in Nunica, MI. I am fairly certain with a cam swap and a slightly smaller pulley it could hit 500hp at the wheels. I was really happy with those numbers however being that I have never even had a valve cover off the engine since I installed it fresh from the crate. I didn't install the supercharger until 3 years ago, so the unit only has about 3-4K miles on it from new. The car still idles like stock due to the factory LS1 cam. It will manage to pull down 28-29mpg on the highway if you are careful. My goal in building this car was for it to be dead nuts reliable and drive as much like a factory car as possible. Don’t ask me what it runs in the ¼ mile, I don’t know, I haven’t run it at the track since I installed the blower.
I pulled the front end apart last winter to rebuild the suspension. While it was apart I had a lot of pieces powdercoated as well such as the a-arms, sway bar, spindles, K-member, springs and misc. brackets. I installed nothing but premium parts (ball joints, bushings, tie rods etc.)
This car is pretty unique in that it's not a typical swapped 3rd gen Camaro with a zillion miles on it. The car is very clean all over, no rust anywhere, or was there ever rust to begin with. The car lives a very sheltered life...LOL. Also, I minitubbed the car in the back to fit massive 335 series tires. The tires measure 14" shoulder to shoulder. The wheels are truly custom made. You will never roll into a car show or race event and find another car with a set of these wheels. They were made to my specs and are a true 3 piece modular wheel with the latest deep concave forging technology. The wheels and tires alone were over $5,000 new.
I recently had the honor of having the car featured in the January 2014 issue of GMHTP Magazine. The car has won allot of awards over the years at various car shows. It has placed 1st for several years at Camaro Superfest and Autorama as well. The car also made a surprise appearance in the 2014 GM Performance Parts catalog.
As far as flaws goes, the car still wears about 90% of the factory original artic white paint. Being that this paint is almost 30 years old it's not perfect. There are some minor scratches and stone chips. There are a couple little dings here and there, nothing major. The paint on the rear bumper cover is getting thin in one area. However, the nice thing about white is that it hides these flaws very well. Most people don't even see them at shows. The car is a very nice driver that presents itself very well at shows too.
The car rides very firm due to the stiff wall R-comp tires. The Koni shocks are one-way adjustable, but I haven't played with them much. Having a firm ride there are the typical squeaks and rattles that most 3rd gens have. The car handles fantastic. With the sticky tires and huge rubber in the back it really corners and hooks very hard.
I also have a 4” single cat back exhaust that will go with the car in case the new owner likes to make noise. I like the subdued sound of the factory cat-back that’s on there now.
Everything works on the car except cruise control. I had plans to adapt a modern GM system to the car but haven't gotten to it yet. I have nothing to hide with this car, it's a legit car that is very well sorted (this isn't your typical thrown together swapped car where half the stuff doesn't work anymore). It's a very quick, fun car to drive. The buyer will receive all the high res proof photos of the magazine photo-shoot on a disc as well.
Price is $20,000. Trades will be considered but only for an older classic GM cars, such as a Tri-5 Chevy 2 door, first gen Camaro, Chevelle or even a Gen 1 CTS-V (cash can be added or subtracted as need be for the right trade). I don't have to sell this, so don't bother with a low ball offer. You could not build a car of this quality for that price in parts alone.
