Default Any experience with Dodge Charger SRT8?

I am thinking about buying a new car for my daily driver. The Charger SRT8 seems like a pretty good price performance value. Does anyone have experience with it on here?

Thanks,
-Tracy

Default experience with the Hemi

I don't have any experience with the Charger or SRT8, but I did have the pleasure of driving my friends Hemi Magnum from San Clemente to downtown LA last night around 2am, and was definitely impressed by the power. I have ridden in it many times, but once you drive it, you can really feel the power. I am now trying to talk my dad into buying a new charger since he is kinda looking for a car. I was a little skeptical about the get up and go of the engine, since they run on 4 cylinders until you get on it and all 8 open up (forget the proper term), but I couldn't tell once I drove it. Sorry I can't be anymore help. Hopefully someone has more firsthand knowledge on the SRT8.

MDS multi displacement system. I would not say that it runs on 4 until you get on it, its more like when you are at idle or not accelerating it has the ability to cut down to 4. Which the SRT8 does not have

My bad, should have done my research before blabbing my mouth off. But I can attest for the Hemi's power, and will say that the SRT8's look badass!

I have to say I really like how they look as well. I have looked at one at a dealership and even sat in it but have not driven one.

The thing that surprised me is that the dealer that I visted in San Jose, CA was marking theirs up $10K over MSRP ...I really complained and said I could buy a BMW for that...ultimately, the sales manager appeared and said they would deal with me when I was ready. Apparently for every 40 non-SRT8s they get in they can get 1 SRT8.

So, MSRP on a well optioned Charger SRT8 is around $43K...Normally, I would not pay MSRP for a car but I would in this case I think. But $53K, I would really have to think about that.

do you want anything done to it aftermarket? we can do rims audio/video exaust, chip, or anything else you want and have the bank finance you in your loan payments. or if all you want is a stock one, let me know and i can get it for about MSRP. we already did for one person that lives in cali. but to answer you, yes they are very nice, well ballenced cars.

Well, I went and bought one. I found one for sale by an individual car collector who ordered it, took delivery, drove it a few times and then needed to make room for another Bentley or Range Rover. In any event, it still has paper tags and only 198 miles.

This car is amazing. I have always been a GM kind of guy when it came to american cars and I have been driving a BMW 5 series for my daily driver for the past few years...I have never owned a Chrysler product.

My hat is off to the Chrysler SRT design team. I picked the car up in San Diego and drove it back up to the Bay area (about 450 miles) yesterday and I still cannot wipe the big grin off my face . The car very fast, very responsive and well balanced. While the car will run a 13 second quarter mile factory stock but it really shines on the highway at high speeds in traffic. Accelleration from 80 mph to 130 is downright scary and there is plenty more where that came from. (not that I tried that of course )

The fit and finish of the car are superb, and it was completely comfortable for 7 plus hours of riding.

For a little over $40K, this is one heck of a ride.

Thanks for all of the input. I honestly have no complaints about the car so far.

Slownova,

I am interested hearing about aftermarket parts for the Charger SRT8. Is there something you can point me at?

Thanks,
-Tracy
