Default Power steering flow control valve install question

Hi guys

I received the Billet Specialities 2 GPM flow control valve , and yesterday spent a couples of hours trying to install the fitting. I started to untighten the high pressure Power steering line fitting and noticed it was a male flaring fitting that is connected to the GM control valve, which is different than the Billet Specialities that has the threaded male connection.

Does this mean that I need to change the male flaring fitting on the presssure line or the BS valve I ordered was not the right valve for the application since it has a different arrangement than the existing one I have?

I am totally confused and appreciate your input guys.

I guess I ordered the wrong flow control valve. I should have ordered the Detroit Speed flow control valve instead of the Billet Specialities one

Most of the aftermarket outlet fittings like what you bought are -6 AN fittings. Hydraulic shops call them JIC fittings. The flare angle is 37 degrees. Normal automotive fittings are 45 degrees.
The DSE fitting is likely to be a -6 AN, same as what you have.

What pump are you using? Is this for a Mustang Rack?

I believe it is an LS6 power steering pump that came with the crate engine.

Well I placed an order for the DSE flow control valve directly through them.

Then you also need to reduce pump pressure to 1000 psi max. The fitting just reduces flow.

Is there a part I need also to change in order to reduce the pressure,if so what do I need to change and where to get it from?

You need a PS pressure tester plus a a Borgeson shim kit, or send the pump out to be set up. I don't see any way you can guess at it. If you have a DSE rack, it can handle 1400 psi, but Mustang racks use 950-975 & I think 1000 or 1100 is max.

A local mechanic may have the needed gage kit & be able to set it for you.
