Default Veterans Day

To all those who have ever heard the sound of incoming mortars, and have felt the fear that comes while you wait for the "thwump" sound they make as they do their deadly deed. To all those who have slept in foxholes, listening to the sounds of the firefight only a mile, or maybe a few "klicks" away. For all those who flew their missions, or who ever sat in full flight gear while "on alert." For all those who ever carried a wounded friend, or even a wounded enemy, to the rear so he could get the medical attention he needed, all the while praying he would hang on until you could get him to safety. For all those who ate a meal on a rolling, heaving ship, or who have baked in the tropical sun, or chipped ice off the cables in gale force winds. For all those who know the dank pressure of traveling under tons of ice-cold ocean water and played the cat and mouse game that can lead to instant death.

To all those who ever swore the oath of fidelity to the United States Constitution, and wore the uniform of a soldier of the United States of America, with humble heart, and a recognition that though I try, I do not live up to the sacrifices you have made in securing my liberty, I heartily thank you and salute you.

To all those who have or who are currently serving, God bless you and your families!
