Default I need experts rating on retail price

guys,

i am having some trouble with my insurance because they dont know how to rate my car. i want it fully insured but they throw out some ridicilous insurance coverage values that are way too low. the car is insured right now although not done yet.

how much would you think my nova could sell for in the states (i am from germany so there is no market for these cars over here) when it is done.

even on ebay.com you rarely find highly modified novas because many settle for the camaros so i have nothing to compare.

there are some pics on www.keilani-racing but only few, but you can guess how much work went into it.

fully sandblasted, partly new sheetmetal in the back, 600 hours in body and paint, all items on the car are either new, or sandblasted and powdercoated, 95% of bolts are stainless steel, all washers are aluminum custom made instead of piling 10 washers to get the height and bridge the gap, interior completly new when done, stock exept front seats sparco evo and dashboard inlet will be custom made with B&Ms, electric all new painless wiring, great engine, cool parts, heads and cam and rockers 2300 dollars alone, brand-new TCI TH400, corvette suspension all around, wayne due subframe, BBS LeMans... i dont want to go too much into details.

you know, you get the idea. what would be a "this price is realistic to get" price tag when finished ? just a round about.

i need some arguments to kick their butts and make them adapt the value in the papers.

thanks !

www.keilani-racing.de then scroll down to nova project. every opinion welcomed.

Default insurance

Being in insurance myself, you can go about this 2 ways. An appraisal or total of money spent. Your company will have guidelines that they follow. Most of the time it is best to go through a specialty carrier on cars such as yours, but I do not know how things work where you live. I cannot imagine that what something sells for here in the states will have any weight with what the car is worth in Germany...and vice versa.

good luck

What you could try to find out is if they have some kind of special insurance policy for special cars. Here in Sweden we have several different kind of special ploicys.

One is that you limit your driving to 5000 km per year and not driving it to and from work. Antoher policy is if the car is older than 30 years. Then there are policys for historical cars and so on.

My company haven't inspected mine they take my word for it and when something happen the discussion would take place. If it is crashed then they can see what I have done, if it gets stolen it could be more difficult to value...

Pictures and receipts is a good thing to save.

I have valued mine myself and have it fully insured and have raised the value every year. I have valued mine according what it would cost to buy another one from the US in similar condition. It would be impossibble to find a similar car here. I could find good objects and start all over. So you have to calculate it both ways.

Check around at different companied, there can be huge differences.

Another thing is to have an independent valuation of your car.

BTW nice with another european here. Nice ride

I have no experience with this yet, but what jannes_z-28 said goes along with what I have heard from others. I just wanted to say: Nice car .
