Default Front suspension

The previous owner of my 69 Chevelle wanted a low front end along with running 19x8 wheels with low profile tires it looks good but rides terrible looks like he used a short as possible front springs. My question is I want to run 17x8 wheels in front with higher side wall tires and add stock springs to front, am I on the right track? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You're starting where I would. Maybe go with a dropped spindle with a stock length spring if you want to keep the lowered look and a new pair of quality shocks
