Default gunmetal gray paints

Been trying to choose a gunmetal grey for my car but can't seem to settle on one. .trying to find a color without too much metallic in it...anyone have any suggestions? My trim and wheels are going to be matte black.

Dan@Holohans was using a really nice looking metallic charcoal color on a build the last time I was up there. I think he used in on Peter's car (69znc) so maybe you can search and find some pics. It looked great I thought. IIRC it was a Toyota color. May be a little dark for "gun metal" but I've seen "gun metal" colors that are all over the map so...

yeah gunmetal is kinda vague..I do want a darker gray color though. Pretty much like on the new dodge challengers and chargers, I think its called granite crystal. I just dont like all the metal flake in it.

Are you painting it yourself or having it done? If you are having it painted at a shop have them mix the color you like on the new dodge do a test sprayout on an old hood. Now have them mix the color again but change out metalics to a smaller flake. Then spray another part of the hood with the smaller flake. You can do a few different tests like this then clear coat the hood complete and look at all the different colors out in the sun, shade, different lights sources. If your doing it your self you just have to have your paint supplier do the same for you.

Rick- Im not painting it myself, but I do intend on having a painted test panel.

Jimbo- Yeah Josh's car looks great, but I think I narrowed it down to (chevy)cyber grey or (ford) sterling grey metallic. Its harder to pick a color that's not on a current production car. Its easier to just go to a dealer and look at the color.

Im also debating whether to paint the bumpers black or body color.
My trim, wheels, door handles, hood & trunk hinges & light bezels will be black for sure...
I thought this was suppose to be fun

Don't settle on anything until you see the new 2014 Lexus IS model Atomic Silver. I've never seen anything like it. The pics I've found on the net do not do it justice
