Default Oil

There are so many oils on the market, is there any place to find independent research on what's the best? Also....What is the shelf life of oil?

I don't know the criteria for the word best. I like Mobil 1. If you change it often, all the major brands should work fine, IMO.

I'm a true believer in Mobil 1 , we've used it in race cars to big truck engines and been very happy
