Default What is Impeding Traffic?!?

I have always been under the assumption that impeding traffic was going to slow in a speed controlled zone? I was pulled over for impeding traffic at....of all places....A stop sign. lol. How the hell does that happen. Anyone familiar with Texas Traffic Laws. I've been searching but have yet to find a definition.

Here is what happend. I was at a 4 way intersection of 2 highways. One of which is controlled with a stop sign, and the other is through traffic. I was stopped at a stop sign waiting on oncoming traffic. The car approaching was going really slow. I didn't notice they weren't speeding up until it was too late to pull out. In this time, a police officer had approached the stop sign on the opposite side of the road and proceeded to his right. He then pulled into the carwash parking lot and watched me. Also a car had approached me from the rear signaling to turn in the same direction. After the slow car had turned, there were two other cars coming from the opposite direction, So I had to wait on them. Then, once it was clear, I pulled out and proceeded on my way....So I thought. The cop pulled me over His reason for doing so was that I was Impeding traffic. I had been at the stop sign for 25 seconds with a car behind me. He claimed that such an act implied something else going on in the vehicle, mainly criminal activity. Then, proceeded to ask me to leave my truck, Once at the front of his car, he began to all but accuse me of trafficking or some other type of illegal activity. I gave him permission to search my truck. Hell he even asked me what was in my back pack....He could have opened it, but not understood the titles of my math books. lol. He then asked my little brother to step out of the truck and he searched my vehicle. He didn't search very hard. But my issues are this, 1. There is a set time you have to leave a stop sign by? Especially when there is oncoming traffic????? 2. I am a good upstanding citizen. I've lived here for 13 years. Everyone knows me by my first name. And that is NOT because I am their crack dealer.
We were rolling with the windows down, so its not like we were trying to hide anything......fricking dick head.

ummmmmmmmmm...... thats a new one. no ticket? sounds like the cop was just looking for some reason to pull you over. you "could" call and complain...but why bother...not like it will actually do anything other than call undue attention to yourself. just my $.02

Yeah, I've got no intention of calling or complaining. Just an amusing story. Being pulled over for stopping at a stop sign. lol. If I continue to get harasses, Then I will raise a fuss, traffic code in hand! lol

Had nearly the same thing happen to me and my brother...

At the time we both worked for an electronics retailer that shall go nameless.

I worked in sales, my brother ran the warehouse in the store, when I sold something, my brother recognized my employee # on the sales ticket that printed for him to go get the merchandise, then he'd bring out to me and the customer. Full service job ya know.

One Sunday evening a cop came in, in uniform, asking me all sorts of questions, advice on tech-related stuff. No problem. The store closed, my brother and I were off, and car-pooled home. The cop left the store immediately after us.

We hop in my brothers car, we drive to the exit of the shopping center, cop right behind us. Didn't think anything of it. We get to a stop sign, that exits onto a very busy street maybe 15 feet to the right of our car. A car stops in front of us waiting to turn onto said busy street. Wait probobly 30 seconds, we pull out around the car. Cop behind us.

*lights* blip of the sirens.

I swear to god it was straight out of super troopers. The Cop I had just helped in the store maybe 10 minutes before acted like he had NO idea who I was. Even after he socialized for a bit in the store (talking about my camaro non-theless) told us we impeded traffic.... and that technically we made an illegal turn down the wrong side of the street.

I think dude, some cops (just like some people) are just d*cks.

oh well. I always smile and waive at cops when I'm in the Camaro. Havent been pulled over yet.
