1st gen carbon parts yay or nay?

THIS IS NOT A BASH ANVIL THREAD. Just looking for feedback please.

I called up Anvil to order some carbon pieces for my 1st gen/ check on back order status last week. The response I got was that they are looking for a new source to produce parts from their molds, due to quality issues with current supplier. Afterwards, I talked to a couple older hot rod guys that said their parts might look good in magazines, but are horrible in person.

Any feedback out there will be greatly appreciated. thank you!

Any other options for 1st gen carbon parts?

i will let you know next week as i have alot of gen 1 parts coming.. i cant fit them though for quite some time so only appearance quality can be judged..

I have boguht enough parts from Anvil for two cars and helped out with another three. Every part that I bought as a non-blem was either as expected or replaced promptly by Anvil for one that was. Most of the blems had only weave issues, and to me that was no biggie.

You gotta consider it's a carbon part and may vary by batch. They do not take persuasion as well as metal will. And even when it doesn't need persuasion, carbon flexes when mounted against rubber seals. It is what it is and that's the price you pay for light weight.

Final note, Matt, Manel and Tracey are good people and vendors that care.

Thanks a lot guys for chiming in. I'm looking forward to Anvil getting caught up with production quality once again so I can get my hands on some.

I've seen a lot of carbon parts but never any of Anvil products. I know what to expect. Just trying to get more opinions for a reality check.

I have no experience with ANVIL... I hear great things... However... if I were anvil or any other vendor... I know that i would only sell, give, or whatever the best of the best to high visibility clients...
so what you see on Bad penny or Motovator or other high profile cars / people might not be what arrives at your house...

Just saying.. make an educated decision... call them tell them your concerns.. I am sure they will work with you...

It's big money for what you looking for ... 2K for a hood is no chump change.. so set you expectations up front... and be realistic... you also have to accept that every car has unique fitment...

Good luck.. let me know how you make out... I am on the fence over the same thing as you.. i will spend 2K on a lightweight hood but if it fits like crap i would rather have the 70 lbs..

So I've bought most every part they make for the 69 Camaro and I agree with Ron in SoCal. Good parts, good customer service. I had a part blem out after a year (resin spotting) and they still replaced it. The parts fit better than most repops.

I have some Anvil parts and they fit well, the finish was great I hated to cover up everything with paint it, If your leaving the carbon exposed I would color sand and shoot an automotive clear on the parts just like the clear on your car and then wax it with the rest of your car like normal, I know Best od Show did Deannas hood that way and it has look great for years now
