Beading the 335's

The only place in town I could convince they could mount my tires couldn't get the 335/30/18s to bead. They didn't charge me for mounting the fronts or halfway mounting the rears. I brought them home, put a ratchet strap on them and they're holding air but not beading completely on the outside. I've never delt with a competition tire so I stopped adding air at 60 psig. The sticker says not to go past 44. The tires are toyo proxes ra-1's. Do any of you have experience mounting these things?

I would suggest the starting fluid / lighter fluid trick, but it scares the crap out of me every time I see it used to seat slicks at my friend's shop...

it can be dangerous, what kind of wheels?? if they are 3 peice or one peice forrged give them some more air but it is best done in a cage so if something comes apart

How big of an air supply do you have?

I've always just sprayed the tire and rim with wd40, and blasted them with a big hit of air (core out of the valve stem).

What wheels are you using?

If you have some time try moving the tire on the rim a few times put some good soap on the bead . In extreme aplications we've had to heat the tire up with a space heater or something of that sort and keep the wheel cool. Some times it just takes time and a bit of effort, good luck

The tires are sealed they just won't finish going on the outside of the rims. I have cast Z06 Motorsport wheels.

i also had trouble with mine . i took them to a shop that had a paint oven and they heated them up it made it much easier. try getting them warm.

i have worked mounting tires for a while now....take the tire and rub some greas...wax...oil.....on the inside of the rims and tires....you can go past the specifies air pressure when seating the beads...you have too....once you have rubbed the lubricant....air it up until it has about 55-60 psi in there and put you wait in the tire like to try to bend it...or hit it with a rubber hammer where it isnt seating...if this does not work...air it up and bounce it liek a basket ball to compress the tire most of the time if not always the will seat them selve with the lubricant...if none of this works i have no idea

When we mounted my 345/35-18's we had to hit them with around 80 psi before they popped out... Made quite a bang.

Where are you located? That may help so maybe a member can point you to a shop that can handle them....
