Default Scottsdale hotels??

The wife and I are taking our three boys to spring training in March.
I have noticed there are quite a few of you that are from that area...... A friend of mine recommended we stay at a place called 3 Palms in scottsdale? any of you know anything about this place?? I have seen mixed reviews of it online.
All I really want is clean and safe, don't really care about fancy or five star.....
Another question is places (other than baseball games) should I bring my boys (ages 9,11&13)??
I have heard there are alot of really cool car shows/cruises in that area...... any advise?
THANKS

I live by the Padres/Mariners stadium. A nice area with TONS of restaurants. Scottsdale near the brand new Giants stadium is a really nice area too, lots of resort type hotels there. Never heard of the 3 Palms but we got all the major hotels of course. I always like Residence Inn with kids.

Out in Scottsdale very near the Giants ballpark is the Pavillions cruise at the 101 Loop and Indian Bend Rd. is probably the best one in town.

Weather is great that time of year, what do you all like to do?

We are going to a couple of games at the mariners stadium, it doesn't look too far from scottsdale?
My kids like anything to do with professional sports, eat at cool mom and pop type restaurants and swim in the pool .
I would really like to catch the pavilions cruise, what night is it??
I have been doing some searching and it looks like there are a few micro breweries down there as well............
I am really wanting to find out more about the 3 palms........ Looks pretty nice in the pics but I have seen mixed reviews........ Don't want to show up down there 1000 miles from home and have it be a total dump, or in a bad area

I've stayed here a couple of times. Very family friendly and has suites for any size family. Close to shops, restaurants and of course GOLF!!!

It looks like 3 Palms is located in a decent area, so I wouldn't worry from that perspective. I know nothing about the hotel, so can't really help you there. If you can swing the price, the Royal Palms is a seriously nice place.

For playing in the pools, the Pointe Hilton Tapatio cliffs hotel would be nice. They have a cool waterpark. It's not really in Scottsdale though, so you might have to do a bit more driving for dinners. It's safe, but if you venture south you'll get to see a bit more of the...uh...cultural side of Phoenix.

The Mariners spring training field is out in Peoria/Glendale, so you're looking at a 35-40 minute drive around the 101 to get there from Scottsdale. The Pavilions is only 10-15 minutes from most parts of Scottsdale, so you could hit that on the weekend easily.

If you like breweries, make sure you go to 4 Peaks. Their beer is very good and their food is really really good. It's one of those places we always take out-of-towners because everyone leaves happy. The 4 Peaks in North Scottsdale at Frank Lloyd Wright & 101 would be the one to go to for a family and moreso for your location.

Mom and Pop restaurants aren't really Scottsdale's "thing" in my opinion, as it tends to cater more toward the fancy side. There's lots of good options, just not very "down-home". Richardson's/Rokerij in Phoenix or Carlsbad Tavern in South Scottsdale are pretty decent for mexican food, if that's your thing. I'm sure Weld can point you in the direction of some good Scottsdale eats too.
