Default Well suck!!!

Well suck!! I have been fighting transmission woes for about the last year. I got it running again (but still not shifting right). I took it out today to see if the new modulator valve would fix the shifting part, it didn't. Well I ripped it thru the gears and at the top of 3rd I let out and saw a TON of white smoke in the mirror and the engine died. Coaste down a county road and popped the hood and water everywhere. Hoses still hooked up but overflow blown off. Started it back up to see and it ran really rough and smoking really bad. Hitched a ride home and got the truck and trailer, went back to pull it on and it hydrauliced so I had to push and use the straps to get it on. Came home and pulled the plugs and water came out of holes on both sides. Not good! Don't know if its just head gaskets or something deeper till I get it apart, which I'm not sure if I'm ready to jack with right now. It may get taken to my dads house and stuffed in his shop on the trailer for now.
Suck!!

Sounds like it leaned out and lifted the heads from the boost pressure. Keep us posted.

Sorry to hear about that Jimmy!

I had the "white smoke" death in a '67 Corvette I had... motor was original 427/400hp tri-power... and on the way to the NCRS Nationals in Sun Valley - a few of us engaged in some spirited hiway cruising... I was at 6000 rpm for quite awhile in 4th gear.... car ran AWESOME (water injected?) -- it was the next morning when I went to fire it off that the side exhaust billowed white smoke - very embarrassing....

I drove it all the way home from SV to Seattle. Figured I couldn't hurt it any worse than it already was. BTW -- a motor like that is FAR more valuable to the total of the car - than just a motor.... That was some very expensive fun!

Suck Sometimes it seems to never end. Hopefully it's not a painful fix.
Good luck.

Man that sucks. I went through this a few years back with the nova. Got the white smoke and POP just idling out of the neighborhood. A cracked valve stem let the valve's head go sideways and rip the webbing out of the block. 15k done. It's hot rods man. They kiss when happy and bite when angry. Use is as an excuse to upgrade!

Sorry for the bad luck, Jimmy. Hopefully, it's just the head gaskets. Good luck.

Thanks guys. I was getting ready for an upgrade this winter, but it wasn't jacking with the engine. I just bought a Truturn setup from Ridetech. Heck, FedEx was pulling in the driveway at the exact moment I was backing the trailer into the driveway!!
