Default Might take the plunge. But have some questions.

Hey fellas. Lookin at puttin a 5.3 into a 69 Camaro. But I have some questions first.

1. Can i use my 700r4 with a drive by wire tb?

2. If i cant will a 4l60e or 4l80e fit in my trans tunnel with out hacking it all up?

This is kind of my deciding factor. If i cant use my 700r4 or have to do something with the trans tunnel to run a 4l60/80, I might just get a ZZ4.

700R will work but you will need adapter flywheel w/spacer. Will also need to rig up a way to hook up the TV cable, which may be a problem w/DBW TB. The 4L60E is same size as 700R. Not sure if the 4l80E fits, I have not tried that swap, but others have. Best scenario would be to get 5.3 w/trans & wiring. Sell all your old stuff. Will be easier & probably cheper in the long run.

4l60 is a newer transmission based on the 700R4, the 4L60E is the electronic version. The newer 4L60E's that came with LSx had a separate bell housing, which may cause slight fitment issues, but many here have used then in 1st Gen cars.

The 4L80E is a different animal all together.. larger, but also a lot more durable. It's traces it linage back to the TH-400.

I would recommend the 4l60e as well. we had one in our 69 for awhile with no issues. It was a tight fit but it was doable.

4L80-E fits in my 67 Camaro, and there is no modifications to the tunnel. The 4L80-E was rather tight, but fit in fine. You might ask Steve of Twist Machines, but the 4L60-E should fit fine too.

Well. I got a little carried away during the searh for a engine. I orderd a 2002 ls1 with a 4l60e. I got everything with it. Let the finger pinching and head scratching begin.

Thanks for the replies fellas, Im sure I will have many more questions.
