Default Sending Unit/Fuel Pump ????'s

I bought an 03' 5.3L vortec engine for the 68 camaro and today I picked up a brand new sheet of metal to build my tank. I am thinking of using a fuel pump and sending unit from a donor truck and using it on my fabbed up tank. I measured a fuel pump unit and it is 14" long but I can shorten the pump to work with a custom tank. A stock tank is only 8" deep on a camaro, but I am thinking I can make my tank 10" and be ok. I am getting my tank ideas from John Parsons tank build.

Does anyone see any problems that I may run into with doing this with the fuel pump. I think it should work but I always like to hear some opinions before jumping too far ahead! Please let me know!

Andrew you should be good as along as the pump and pickup filter are in the lowest part of the tank and have some baffles around them to keep the gas there at low levels. Can't wait to see pics!
