Default Epoxy primer

When I originally had the car blasted I did PPG DPLF90.....same as a I did on my last car.

The car has had so much metal work done, its 75% bare metal again and its time to get it cleaned and sealed up again soon.

Only issue is I live in the central valley of CA, and the air restrictions are really tight, so its hard to find alot of the commonly used paint producst out there.... DPLF isnt available anywhere in CA anymore.....

So... I found a dealer that carriers the newer PPG DPLV line....and he carrier the House of Kolor lines too...but he's an hour drive away.

I'm most familiar with PPG stuff, and I dont want to mix and match a bunch of different brands of cleaners, epoxy, primers, sealers etc etc etc...

Any suggestions for a low VOC product in CA?

Ned, Make a call to Southernpoly at 706-781-2220. I know they ship products to California. They can probulay ship directly to your home address. Their epoxy in my opinion is one of best epoxy primer's I have ever used. After seeing how well it held up on Red Devil I think people would't even give it a second thought about using it. Any question's feel free to pm me. Joe

Very interesting Joe, I did not know that anyone was producing a 2.1 VOC epoxy. Although they talk about it on their news links they do not show it in their product pages. Good to know for thows that live on the left coast!

We went in a different direction with corrosion wipes, cuts the whole VOC and EPA right out of the discussion.

I'd like to hear more on the corrosion wipes. I did a google and read a bit about the RBL wipes.

I have been using the valspar direct to metal sealer. it is tintable and havent had any problems at all. U should be able to get dp90 in sacramento or santa cruz.

Found a more local supplier for the DPLV line and used that....

The one thing I noticed different is the DP90 says you can sand/scuff after 7 days and do body work etc.... The DPlV says scuff, shoot another coat and then filler etc after 7 days
