It will depend on the engine mount setup. Some will place the engine more to the back and others willplace it more to the front. The variation is 1-2 inches.

Jan is right, I know that not all LSx conversion motor mounts are the same. Which do you have, Jake?

motor
not an ls motor if you look closely, its a 454 based 2 pc rear main motor, on stock motor mounts, this going to a ls-1 t-56 , into a ford nine inch, i was just wondering how much shorter then stock the driveshaft ends up because a buddy has a new dennys he bought for his car which is not a first gen but i know the length of that and dennys shortens and balances the driveshafts for free , and i can get it at about half price

If you can get it shortened for free, then I KNOW it will need to be shorter than the stock 50" shaft used in an original firstgen manual trans setup.
My shaft ended up at 48 1/2", sbc on stock mounts, TKO500, stock 10 bolt. You'll be shorter then that, too.
