1964 Corvette question

I was hoping some one could give me an idea of the value of a 1964 corvette I'm looking at buying. The prices seem to be all over the place for these cars. I just want to make sure I don't get ripped off.

-perfect paint and interior (red/red)
-convertible both tops perfect
-non matching 327/365 Hp motor from a 69 vette (original 327 car)
-4 speed original

Let me know if there something else I forgot to mention that may affect the value.

Low to mid 40s

Not to be a Debbie Downer - but the '64 Vette is the least collectible of the '63 to '67 years... it has drum brakes... and just doesn't bring the money the classic '63 split window does - or the higher horse '65's... there was just nothing special about the '64 model year except there was a fuelie which could fetch some dough.


Non matching number motor will hurt the value even more...


#1 condition but with non matching numbers - I don't think a guy could get 50K for it... and maybe top 80K with a matching number motor and a few good options.

#2 condition --- NOM --- maybe 35 or 40K tops

being a vert will kill the value for a 63-67 vette. what is the condition of the rest of the car like suspension and interior? Off the bat I would guess mid 30's maybe low 40's max depending on your location. Around here that is a 30-35 car.

mid twenties to low thirties all day long. just depends on how nice. with the right motor and or ncrs docs it will fetch considerably more. you gotta want a 64 to pay high for it. do the other numbers (rear, trans, frame etc..) match or are they correct for the year model? make sure it's not an auction cream puff.

I have a 64 thats super clean. red on black, auto- original 4 speed car, no a/c but has power windows. I'm putting it up for sale soon for $39,000. It will be on this site in a week or two unless I sell it sooner.

Well the guy i'm meeting this weekend has a few corvettes. He also has

1965 Black on Black int. Conv. NOM 327 4speed (with soft and Matching Vinyl hardtop)

1967 Yellow on Black int. Conv. Matching 327 4speed (needs paint)

1967 Blue on Black int. Conv. NOM 327 4speed

Which of these are the best you think? All of them are perfect except the yellow 69 that needs paint but that its it.

I'm familiar buying Camaros but this will be my first Vette. I just dont want to buy something I may lose money on.

I would definitely have someone who knows C2s look over the car for you, especially the frame and birdcage. Ask me how I know.

If I am buying a 63-67, I am not buying a vert. Demand is way low compared to coupe, and you have not posted prices, so which is better is a toss up since I see no big blocks in the mix.. Of the 3, the 67 would be mine.
