Default Using Accel with USB/serial converter

I just lost my old laptop with a serial connection I had started using for Accel DFI tuning. I got a new laptop with Windows 7 and can't seem to get the newly loaded Calmap to communicate with the ECM. FYI using calmap vs 6.1, ecm was updated to vs 2.2.5 by Accel. Downloaded usb drivers, etc but still won't connect and shows error w117 Wibukey not detected. I also installed Wibukey download and anything I could think that would remedy this. HELP! please

I've had problems with certain serial to usb adapters. One may work for one tuning software, and then won't work with another. After trying a couple that would work with one and then not work for another, I ended up with the Belkin keyspan adapter, and it seems to work with all of them.

Cheaper is not better here.

I hear you on the adapters. I have two already...one of which is by prolific. If worse comes to worse I'll pull the trigger and go to 3rd one. With all the software update downloads by accel pertaining to usb seems like one of those would work.

I agree. The Belkin one was recommended by Mefi 4 and BS3 I believe. I could not get my others to work with that Mefi 4 to save my life.

Have you called Accel to see if they have a recommendation or idea why yours won't work?

Got it.

I've used a Radio Shack adaptor for over 5 years and no issues. Through XP, Vista (crap) and the new Windows 7, no issues. Just like this one;
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-RadioSha...item4d00c7b4f6
Make sure it has the software with it.

But I've also used the Keyspan (HD-19 I think?) one as well but for some reason that quit working after awhile. I went back to the Radio Shack one, didn't miss a beat.

Sometimes you'll need to re-download the software. And if you cruise the forums you'll see that alot of dealers have issues from time to time, no matter what the brand of ECU.

I'd be interested to look at your cal. Email it to me if you don't mind along with your motor specs. I'd appreciate it.

P.S. actually you can call Accel in Wixom Michigan, ask for Dave. He's normally very helpful but he may refer you to a dealer like me. That's just the way they're set up, to go thru their dealers first.

Thanks
Mark

Mark
Thanks for the input. I will pull the calibrations off my old computer since I haven't been able to get com up to get off the ECM onto the new computer.
Thanks for your help. I know Accel gets dogged more than its share. I like the capabilities but they probably need an entire book for us lay people to use. Their instructions are good basics but this system is so extensive that it leaves a little too much to trial an error to figure out how to integrate it all.
Thanks
David
