Default t56 no 2nd,3rd, or 5th help

i have an 02 ls1 t56 in a 68 camaro. got in yesterday and no 2,3, or 5.
drove it for a couple of miles and it started working perfect.. same thing happened today. the trans has 4000 original miles on it. ive put about 100 miles on it myself. any help would be appreciated. its full of fluid

Found this...
"Fairly common problem with T56's. You either sheared the teeth off the cluster gear and main shaft for 5th and 6th, or you have a broken shift fork/shift pads".
Since you didn't loose reverse, it sounds like the mainshaft. Time for a teardown and rebuild.

Trans come out of a wrecked car? That may explain internal stress related damage that is now coming to the surface.

You drove it a few miles and then it started working in all gears? Very strange!

Did you fill it with Dextron lll fluid? It's a manual trans that uses ATF. Sounds weird but it's true. If you didn't use that fluid it can and will cause shifting issues.

yea i put dextron in it. drove it today with no issues
