Default Can I run 275 up front and 305 in back?

Hey guys, I'm looking at Nitto Nt555 tires and just ran into a little size problem. I was hoping to run 305/35/18 in the back and 255/40/18 in the front. I can get the back tires but the front is only offered in 255/35 and 255/45. I can either run a 245/45/18 or jump up to a 275/40/18. Im trying to get a pro-touring look and I didn't want to go smaller than 255 up front. Is it a bad idea to run 275 up front and 305 in back? I didn't know if that would affect handling.

Assuming it's for your 69 Camaro, You won't fit much more than a 245 comfortably up front without an aftermarket subframe and out back, you'll need mini-tubs to go much beyond 275s. If you run a subframe and can fit 275s up front, more tire certainly won't hurt handling and will lend a great deal toward making the car handle neutrally instead of tending to push.

Thanks for the reply. I do have speedtechs front end, which I believe can handle up to a 295. And I have also mini tubbed the rear. I just was not sure if the ratio between 305 and 275 would be a bad choice becasue when I see most cars with 275 up front, they run a a wider tire like a 335 in the back.

Should work no problem. Just keep in mind you probably want a 275/35/18 in the front 40 is going to be pretty tall.

I'm running NT-555 265/35/18s up front and NT-555R 305/40/18s on the rear on 9" and 11" wheels respectively. DSE subframe and minitubbed.

Actually, we're pushing the car around the shop on 'em at this point. Not much running yet.

I believe on one of the 275/305 combos the sidewall on the fronts protrudes more from the wheels than does the sidewall on the rears.

What are you running for suspension? Do you have an aftermarket front subframe, or stock? Is the back of the car minitub or ?

And you probably have wheels already? Actually, I'm not sure you even mentioned what kind of car you have, although I could only assume a camaro?
