I'll start off by saying my perspective is from an A-body and not an F-body. So, I'm guessing YMMV - significantly. I'll let the guys with the little toy cars speak about F-body cars.
That was a joke - just to be clear.
For my application, half height body bushings would have created some real problems. Using full height poly bushings, I've already run into clearance issues for my 1/2" stainless fuel lines, and for the upper shock mounts for my Varishocks. I was certainly able to work around them and it is not anyones fault- just a fact. But, if I had half height bushings I don't believe I could have even mounted my rear shocks without lifting the body, and I know my fuel lines would have needed to be rerouted. Also, it would have made the job of building a removable 4 point cage much more difficult.
I would think that a Unibody car might be a very different discussion altogether.
