Default F1 back this weekend!

Is anyone else excited about the first F1 race this weekend? I hope Hamilton wins the damn championship this year!

Hamilton's McLaren has been dog slow in pre season testing. Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes have been the quickest.

What should make things interesting is the new Pirelli tires last about nine laps before the canvas is showing.

Ok here we go again. someone needs to explain to me how tires that last 9 laps and now movable rear wings 1. keep costs down? 2. keep te speed down?
oh and let me take a wild guess the FIA probably told the teams they need a different displacement engine this year. to keep cost down i would think maybe not changing all the rules every year might be an idea.

Don't get me wrong i like the first 30 seconds of any F1 race. actually i will sit through the entire race. the speed and technoligy are crazy.

and lets be honest with budgets in the 1/2 BILLION range what is a few million??
and isn't the race next weekend? in Austrailia due to the cancelling of Bahran

The movable wings are stupid, because they can only be used in specific areas of the track, and only by the pursuing car if it's within a second of the car it intends to pass. A ridiculously contrived way to have more passing.

If you ask me the way to get more passing is to ditch the ceramic brakes and go back to steel. That should double the length of the braking zones. Right now they're so short its impossible to get a pass done in time.

Oh, and about displacement, it's the same for this year, but the FIA wants 1.6L 4 cylinder turbos for 2013. Not entirely unheard of in F1, years ago BMW had a 4 cylinder that made 1500 hp in qualifying trim. The head was welded to the block. I'm sure what they're planning on will be more in the 600hp range though - and they'll sound terrible.

I am excited for the new season, I hate all the yearly rule changes. This because Ferrari dominated for 5 years straight. 4 cylinder F1 cars will almost end it for me, if any of you guys had ever heard the V10's live at 19,000 rpm it is truly music to your ears. Just incredible.

I am rooting for a Ferrari championship win this year unless they mess up thier stratagies like last year.

I have a buddy who worked for BMW motorsports in those days. They used to have semi trailer just for turbo selection!

I agree that the Mclarens were slow in pre season...hopefully they were not showing their whole hand at the test.

I'm Italian, both my parents were born there. It's almost a crime to be Italian and not support them. Plus I've wanted a red Ferrari pretty much since the day I was born. I support whoever drives thier car, no matter what. I guess it's just an Italian thing lol
